It's gonna be a long year

Continuing to prove how out of touch with reality Cyclone fans are. Hoiberg won here but it obviously drained him to do so. ISU will never be great at any sport. Its time for the fans to just stop. You just look stupid to everyone outside of Ames. We have no advantages in any sport outside of wrestling and we burnt that program down when Gable went to Coach across the state. This is our place. We can be a spoiler and feel good story. We are not a power.

Chris Williams is that you? If not it's a position that he parrots continuously and the 25 year olds are starting to believe the opinion of someone who doesn't even know what a Wallgreens is...what's embarrassing is he has such a loud voice for ISU.

It will be nothing like last year. 9-9 ish. -- going to lay a few eggs here and there.

We'll win a few, but unlike last year, be lucky to make NCAA>

We will make the NCAA Tournament with ease. I'll be happy to make a wager on that.

Or by not giving up 60 points in the second half...we can beat Baylor without our A game in Hilton. Let's not act like they are world beaters.

They're a good team. They are not a great team.
No one is acting like they are world beaters.
And we are a good team, not a great team. Baylor is better.

I think we are an 11-7 conference team. About what we should have expected when Naz went down and what we started the year with. Will lose to KU at home and 5 road games.
Based what I have seen so far, I would be very happy with that record, but I will be very surprised if it's that good.

When you say that it would take our 'A' game to beat them at Hilton it indicates that you believe they are a great team...or that there are a good number of teams that we just flat out couldn't beat in Hilton no matter how good we play.

Neither of which is true.

Sigh...speaking of not true. I didn't say it would take our A game to beat them at Hilton, I said we would have out-played them with our A game. Big difference.

The poster was alluding to ISU being better due to the fact that we would have won had we corrected our mistakes. Yes, a team that is allowed to go back and correct their mistakes, play their A game if you will, will have a good chance of winning at home. BFD.

I re-read your comment and I stand corrected.

For me, this is what is disappointing. What you're saying is 100% accurate. I feel like we've not taken advantage of having some really great players...but understand that's how it works sometimes. And I don't know what we could have done differently. Would like to have seen us catch lighting in a bottle with MM and Georges and Naz...but I don't see it happening.

Here's to hoping we play tough, get better and make the tournament. I'm not convinced that's a given at this point.

We have very good players. Great? In our system, maybe.

Georges is a really great offensive player and even better Cyclone, but we don't have even one great two-way player. We don't have a White or Fizer or JT that is NBA level talent. We also don't have much around our better players.

What could we have done differently? Not stop recruiting at least one class, if not two.

Baylor has better recruiting and quite frankly Drew is a much better coach than he gets credit for. Outside of KU, he's had more NCAA success than anyone else in the league.

Hoiberg won here but it obviously drained him to do so.

I do not understand that. If that was the case, could you explain why he moved to a league where they play a game almost EVERY SINGLE DAY and the average team can play more than 70 games in a season?

It's just hilarious to me that people are just going on and on and on about if we would have played better defense. But no one ever says "WE SHOULD HAVE MADE MORE SHOTS AND PLAYED BETTER ON OFFENSE!!!" because it's most the likely the same outcome either way.

Understand 5 mil per and no recruiting.

The fact that you can't grasp why people are more upset about our defense than our offense says a lot about how much time you've spent around the game in your life.

From the post-game report, per McKay:
Big man Jameel McKay finally summed up the gut-wrenching chain of events late in No. 13 ISU’s head-shaking 94-89 loss to Baylor in three simple sentences.
“They made shots,” he said. “They executed. And they played harder than us.

That's not the best thing to read from this team.

So you want to argue that if we had made 5 of the threes that we missed we wouldn't have most likely won the game? Because I'll concede that if we had gotten 5 more stops throughout the game we probably would have won. Like I said, the outcome is most likely the same. Our results on both ends of the floor weren't outrageously out of whack from the averages for the season, so it would stand to reason a bump on either side of the ball would elicit the same outcome, right?

He's not saying we didn't play hard or play our hardest, but anyway, that's paper talk. The other two points are far more important than the last one, but lap it up...the football team is going bowling next year, too.
