Never thought I would see those words associated with Matt T. The guy was a liability at best his freshman year. There was an article a couple years ago that stated that he never played Man defense before he got the ISU. He as really become a lot more than anyone expected him to be. Amazing what a lot of determination to get better does.
I haven't known who that was in your avatar for two years! Just figured it was some Pinterest thing.
I was thinking if we win this game, it's because Matt Thomas kept us in it. Clutch.
I love everyone on this team. Anyone can step up and have a fantastic performance. Glad to see Matt get his moment. Excited to see more.

His freshman year he was bad on D. Wayyyyy overextended on help defense. Last year was better but he still had a lot to work on. Now he's easily a net positive on defense.
I don't know if it was coaching or Nader, but there is no way that Uthoff should have been getting a decent look at the basket after the first 10 minutes of the game. Nader kept leaving him to help on the inside, which lead to a lot of the open 3s and some easy drives.
Matt was unreal on both ends. Pretty much all he's done this year is make winning plays, even when his shot isn't falling.

His D late in the game was huge and was the difference for us imo. He fought through screen after screen and stayed right on Jok's ***. Most clutch D I've seen since Babb. Big time props MT.
Cried buckets when I read the Gottlieb piece. Cried again for Matt when we pulled that game out. Read the piece again, comments about knocking down your first shots in a game for confidence, and Matt's ability to guard several positions. Prophetic.
About the happiest I have ever been for a single player in an ISU uniform.

Announcers keep complaining about our bench depth. It is difficult to have bench depth when you have 6+ starters.
Incredible defense exactly when we needed it. Awesome game by Matt Thomas.
