I think Xtina comes across as a snotty brat most times, but I do like that version (as well as the original) and as much as I dislike her attitude I can't deny her talent.

She has a great voice, but she then she starts with that weird growl and then goes on vocal runs for a minute and a half.

I can. I intensely dislike her "vocal stylings". Some deviation from the printed notes is fine. She takes off on riffs like a po'd cat on a fence...and she has never met a consonant that she likes.

It's more than her attitude and personality. I disliked her music before I saw her.
The attitude & personality are justification. :)

My way sounded much less crotchety

This is probably one of my all time favorite covers(It is pretty recent but it stands out to me). Its the perfect example of how to **** into gold.

Where did you sleep last night....I kind of argue with that one...I mean, I love the nirvana unplugged version, but it's so different, it's dang near a different song form Lead Belly's, so I can't really say one is better than the other.

And I like G'n'F'in'R's "Live and Let Die"!...but then, that's probably my age more than anything.

Because, today.

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they called 'gitche gumee'
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy

"Hey dad, my music teacher wants to meet with me after school to discuss the starring role in Once Upon a Mattress."

they are doing Lion King up here in May, definitely planning to get tickets.

Crayola launching a coloring book for adults as well. If I didn't have too many cross stitches to work on......

left earbud stopped working. I have so much to do that I like to have my music on for the next 10 days. Boo, these are only like a year old. Debating running home to get the pair that came with the phone.

Knocked my water bottle over on them this morning (no water, just the weight), and the little thing popped out of one of the buds so I'm wondering if that f-ed it up. Looked at it though and all the wires look well-attached still.

I buy the same cheap Sony headphones every year and they last maybe 10 months. The one item I get a 1 year warranty on every time.

These are JVC? I've had them before and they lasted about..........four years? I think the water bottle screwed them up, they are like $15 maybe? Have to see about Sony ones.

I guess I'm sorry I missed the musicals convo last night. My family was in plays/musicals all throughout high school. There are very few older musicals that I haven't either seen or been in. Les Miserables is easily my favorite of the bigger productions. For my wife's 30th birthday, I surprised her with a trip to NYC, where we saw Phantom on Broadway.

Cooler tip#1: refrain from consuming several bottles of wine before attending a Broadway show. I've heard it makes one a little sleepy

or maybe they are only $5. I'm surprised they are so cheap. They work well for me for running and work. I don't want noise-cancelling so maybe that's why. You can definitely hear other noises, which I want.

Booze and broadway shows is like booze and NyQuil. Each of them on their own will make you sleepy, together, it multiplies.

Interesting list they have here. Theres quite a few I disagree with but also a few that are pretty decent.

List is fun. Agree with some and some look to just be patronizing to a newer version by a contemporary currently popular artist.

Just for the record, I sing Free Fallin' better than John Mayer.

Manfred Mann's Earth Band, "Blinded by the Light"? The fool couldn't even pronounce deuce so it sounds like ****** in his version.

Jimi Hendrix, "All Along the Watchtower" (Bob Dylan) Yes this.

Eva Cassidy, "Songbird" (Fleetwood Mac). Cassidy was awesome with her covers although I would have picked her version of Time After Time which is goosebumps awesome.

Talk of "Where did you sleep" (which, BTW, the Lead Belly Version is actually named "Black Girl", but I s'pose Kurt was being PC there) made me pull up the Lead Belly on my phone while eating lunch. Currently listening to "Digging my Potatoes".
