Dear America - Iowa Doesn't Care What You Think

I'd take the playoff loss in a heartbeat. Being in the playoff is better than any bowl game IMO. Having a chance to compete for a national title is so much better than an exhibition bowl game that no one will remember except for the two fan bases.

Agreed, but.... Rose Bowl. That would be my one exception. Another Orange Bowl? No way. But the history behind the Rose Bowl is hard to beat. Also would be nice to get the "not won since 59" monkey off our backs.

You are right if you had the benefit of hindsight. If you KNEW you'd get blasted in the playoff game (of course that wouldn't happen), I'd take the Rose Bowl. But the Rose Bowl allure (along with all of the other bowls) has been replaced by the CFP. And to have the chance to play for a national title would be huge.

Maybe its because I'm an ISU fan and 1) the Big 12 doesn't have any Rose Bowl-like bowls and 2) ISU has never sniffed them even if they did exist.

Rose Bowl does Iowa not one bit of good for reasons I would think are obvious, but I guess not. The Orange Bowl is a better bowl for us given the choice. The playoffs are the best choice to everyone, except those with a Rose Bowl fetish. A lot of older Iowa fans want Rose Bowl.

Except I could see us lose at Indiana, and I'm not sure anyone on here realizes this is substantially the same team that beat a SEC division champion in recent history, and this is probably the first time in two season they've been close to full strength.

Not saying they're a powerhouse, I'm just saying Indiana would beat a lot of B12 teams. And will probably win some games this season they aren't supposed to win.

There really is a lot of parity in college football, and I'm not sure anyone blows Iowa out this season, just as I'm not sure in any one game we can't beat anyone. Just as I'm not sure we still don't lose in the regular season.

But I also thought ISU this year given significantly better players than in recent history would win 6 games, which is still possible, but made more difficult by the Toledo loss.

It's fun to have this type of season, but I don't think any reasonable fan deludes themselves that we could have easily lost to both Pitt and Wiscy. Nor do I think reasonable fans consider those two teams as bad as some on here do, but I did say reasonable.

It really reminds me of 2009. I kept on thinking we weren't that good that season, and they kept on winning. Same this season. I've seen more talented Iowa teams. I've seen teams with far fewer mistakes being made. And yet? And it's not all the ""easy" schedule either.

The argument is really pointless. They still need to play every Saturday, and strange things happen. No one excepted oil to plummet to these levels either. But what I don't get is the percentage of both fan bases that are happy when the other teams loses. It really is ignorant and low class. Atlas Shrugged. Pay attention to your own business. Paying attention to other's business is rarely profitable. Paying attention to one's own business usually yields results.

They would beat Kansas. Every other B12 team is better than Indiana

An example of the 90/10 rule is below:

"Every other B12 team is better than Indiana"

Sure thing Skippy. Now back to work for you. Stop posting and stealing your employer's time.

If I said every B12 team is ranked higher than Indiana besides Kansas would that make you feel better? I mean that is a fact

They would beat Iowa State as well. Probably Texas and K-State.

If you added Indiana to the Big 12 and made it an 11-team league, Indiana would be...

*10th in Sagarin
*10th in ESPN FPI
*10th in Massey composite

Maybe Siepker needs to make a #B1GMyth video next.

Indiana is horrible.

Sagarin:

Kansas State - 52
Texas - 58
Iowa State - 61
Indiana - 84
Rutgers who won and put up 55 against Indiana in Bloomington - 89

Cool metric. You should give that W back to Texas since Sagarin says they're better. Texas is horrendous. Indiana has a better offense than ISU, and their defense is just as bad theirs or any B12 team which plays glorified 8 man football.

ISU is better than Indiana. You're a blind B10 homer if you think otherwise since all the facts back up ISU being the better team

Do we have to listed to iowa fans for the next 3 weeks talk about how good their upcoming opponents are? Seriously, yes, it's possible that iowa could lose any of their remaining games. And those teams may have the ability to play well for a Saturday. But calling any of their upcoming opponents "good" is just, well, ridiculous.

Not all the facts bud. Not to mention ISU's computer ratings are built up because the B12 schedule is back loaded so they've been beaten by a slew of now undefeated teams (you're welcome) who will end the season with several losses and aren't actually that good. Oklahoma is probably going to win the B12 and they were beat by a bad Texas team.

Depending on where the game was located, Indiana would probably have a legitimate chance against Texas Tech, Iowa State, KSU, Texas and Kansas. For the most part, they would probably only win home games, except for KU. 4 teams in the Big XII have a significantly higher rated offense than Indiana, and a 5th is pretty much equal. 4 of those have a MUCH better defense.

Based on these statistics, I would guess that Indiana would probably be something like 2-7 or 3-6 in the Big XII.

This is the funny part to me. Even just a week ago Iowa fans were saying "Yes, we know the rest of our schedule sucks, but Northwestern! Pitt! Wisconsin!"

Now, with that all in the past and Iowa still the second-worst undefeated P5 team according to the committee, Iowa fans are left trying to argue that the 59th-best Power Five team (out of 65) is tough and would be a middle-of-the-pack Big 12 team.

I wonder what the argument will be when they play the 61st-best Power Five team in a couple of weeks. "Purdue beat Nebraska, who has a lot of talent. Look out!"

Their are 6 big10 teams ranked 64 or higher. There are 3 Big 12 teams ranked 64th or higher. Iowa will have played 9 teams ranked 64th or higher at the end of the regular season. If your point was to prove Indiana is ranked above 3 Big 12 teams, you won.

If your point was to show, clearly, just how poor Iowa's opponents are, most of which are in the Big 10, you won also.

Congratulations.
