Rose Bowl does Iowa not one bit of good for reasons I would think are obvious, but I guess not. The Orange Bowl is a better bowl for us given the choice. The playoffs are the best choice to everyone, except those with a Rose Bowl fetish. A lot of older Iowa fans want Rose Bowl.
Except I could see us lose at Indiana, and I'm not sure anyone on here realizes this is substantially the same team that beat a SEC division champion in recent history, and this is probably the first time in two season they've been close to full strength.
Not saying they're a powerhouse, I'm just saying Indiana would beat a lot of B12 teams. And will probably win some games this season they aren't supposed to win.
There really is a lot of parity in college football, and I'm not sure anyone blows Iowa out this season, just as I'm not sure in any one game we can't beat anyone. Just as I'm not sure we still don't lose in the regular season.
But I also thought ISU this year given significantly better players than in recent history would win 6 games, which is still possible, but made more difficult by the Toledo loss.
It's fun to have this type of season, but I don't think any reasonable fan deludes themselves that we could have easily lost to both Pitt and Wiscy. Nor do I think reasonable fans consider those two teams as bad as some on here do, but I did say reasonable.
It really reminds me of 2009. I kept on thinking we weren't that good that season, and they kept on winning. Same this season. I've seen more talented Iowa teams. I've seen teams with far fewer mistakes being made. And yet? And it's not all the ""easy" schedule either.
The argument is really pointless. They still need to play every Saturday, and strange things happen. No one excepted oil to plummet to these levels either. But what I don't get is the percentage of both fan bases that are happy when the other teams loses. It really is ignorant and low class. Atlas Shrugged. Pay attention to your own business. Paying attention to other's business is rarely profitable. Paying attention to one's own business usually yields results.
