Dear America - Iowa Doesn't Care What You Think

Still going, much like the Energizer Bunny, and inclusive of much laffy taffy to the twelfth power!

Y'all do know that if IISU was having a decent season, outside of the lunatic fringe, most Iowa fans would be pulling for them correct? Probably a shocking statement to some of you guys, based solely on what I read here, and my own personal conclusions. But its' true. Think about that for a while, and then examine your own winning lives.

Do you think that is true? I feel like Iowa fans cheer against ISU in basketball, even when highly ranked. What was the mood like in 2002 when ISU football was a top 10 team for a week or two?

I think the difference is, whether they'd cheer for ISU or not, most would acknowledge that ISU is a great team when it is. The past few years when ISU has been so good in MBB I've enjoyed watching them, fun style of play, and undeniably a top tier team. Just funny to see so many diehard ISU fans go so far out of their way to avoid even coming close to sniffing the notion that this Iowa football team is pretty good... 9th best in the nation according to the playoff committee.

I think Iowa is pretty good, but dude, I'm not buying the snake oil.

Yea, I don't know any Hawk fans that ever cheer for ISU in anything. There were some pretty disgusting comments when Hicks and Berryman died. Even heard some revolting stuff about the plane crash.

In terms of yards, Iowa offensive opponents faced on average are 90th so far this year for offense. The best team Iowa has faced in terms of offense? Iowa State and #48 in the nation. Since ISU has played Iowa, we have fired OC, benched that starting QB and elevated a third string qb to 1 string. Wisconsin is next at 62, 91 Pitt, 99 Illinois, 103 North Texas, 110 Maryland and 116 Northwestern. This is from the NCAA website updated through 11-1-2015. There are 127 total FBS teams.

My friends wife told us all how her husband openly roots against ISU...like cheers as hard as he does for the Hawks for ISU to lose in everything. Of course this year he is cheering for ISU to win 4 games so Rhoads does not get fired.

We're #1!!!

Had a doosher Hawk fan next to me in the stands for Jake Knott's last game against Baylor, said he came to watch us lose by 70. Loud and drunk.

In Iowa. Then off to Bloomington, Indiana. After that a short trip to Las Vegas. Back in time for the Iowa game. Some work. Then Florida for the winter. I'm in my 40"s, you didn't really think someone in their 40's actually spent winters in Iowa did you? Not someone who has half a brain, and knows how to make money. And also understands college football. Because most of the afore mentioned don't apply to teh vast majority on this thread.

Again, sit back, reflect, if you were half as smart as you thought you were, would you really be where you're at?

And yes it is true, the vast majority of Iowa fans would cheer on a successful ISU football season. Most of the rest of them are on here. And they baited you into a multi page, idiot thread that has little to do with reality, or college football. For God's sake, look at your own thread predicting a 2-10 season.

You don't believe this because you think like the one that wouldn't cheer on a successful ISU season. You are exactly like them. It is great comedy actually. Not everyone is like you. For example, me.

Thanks for this post. It definitely made me "Laffy".

I think most of us have a better view of Iowa football than you do. This ISU team is not good enough to whoop up on a Top 10 team for a half like they did to Iowa. We're not impressed because we've actually watched your team play.

Now that's good. See? Laffy is easy. It's fun, and people who laffy live longer. Don't argue with these peoples (plural) make laffy of them, and live longer.

#1 Clemson

#2 Iowa

Laffy, laffy, laffy! Laffy taffy!

Huh

I guess TCU isn't top 10 material, either, seeing as how ISU was a Warren fumble away from taking a 28-24 lead into halftime.

Or baylor.... the difference is what those teams is to us in the half they won. To be honest TM, I root for the hawks when not playing ISU, and while I believe this is a solid Iowa team, I don't think they have any business as a "playoff" team. I think there is part of the fan base that is delusional right now. Iowa during football season reminds me a lot of ISU fans during basketball season (like when we started out 14-0 and a portion of the fans were talking NC or bust). Iowa has a good team that has had luck on their side this year. Could iowa make it? Sure and I would be rooting for them, but the fans arguing they are truly deserving (as in really top 4 worthy) are what annoy me.

Being from Iowa City I know a lot. Their a re a ton of hawks that are closet ISU basketball fans, others that will root for them, some that don't care. I would say most would not root against ISU in the final four and I don't think most isu fans would root against Iowa if they made the playoffs.

If we needed one win to be bowl eligable and got to the choice of playing Texas Tech or Iowa again would any cyclone fan not pick Iowa over an unranked Tech team? That should tell you all you really need to know.

Thing is, ISU mbb did not earn much respect outside of the fan base until they started beating good teams. Everyone knew they were good, but there's a big difference between being a good team and being a final four contender. Same thing for Iowa FB. Yeah, they're a good team, but they are going to have to beat someone with a pulse before many outside of the fan base give them credit. Thing is, they'll get their chance. Iowa fans should spend less time worrying what people think and trying to convince others how good their team is. Just shut up and enjoy the ride. They'll get their chance to crow if they beat tOSU.

I'm not so sure that Iowa will beat Nebby at the end of the season. I can see kNU regarding that as their bowl game.

Yeah, I will be suprised if Iowa wins out. Unlike Maryland, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Indiana have the talent to knock off Iowa if they aren't playing their A game. I hope Iowa does make it through, but it is different playing with a target on your back as a top 10 ranked team especially if they are as I and many ratiobal observers suspect not as good as their ranking indicates. I see them like okie state, a decent team that with a little luck and so far favorable schedule is undefeated. I honestly think Texas Tech and West Virginia are better teams when all cylinders are firing than either OSU or Iowa. I think our chances are better vs. Okie State than WVU too.
