the mom is usually a very nice person - definitely more controlling than I would want but not a bad person at all. Something about weddings makes it easy for people involved (not the couple) to lose track that it's not their decision to make.

I feel like my step mom would be like this too, she's had a knack for body shaming over the years.

Apartment office calling me to pick up my packages. Funny, when I tried to do that yesterday, they were closed when they shouldn't have been.

Caught up on some of the other threads from the weekend. I'm not a true fan. Go Hawkeyes!

I know you are joking around but I actually REALLY hate the holier than thou fans and their pious denunciations of those who don't meet their purity standards.

not nice.

It's really not, and it irks me even more because I don't see it happening to my step sister (who is similar in height, and clothing size) or my brothers (one of which really does need to lose weight for his health). Last year, during Christmas, she sent an email to my step sister saying that I was "getting fat again"......mind you, I went to the gym almost every day at that point and was wearing a size 10 in my jeans. I'm never going to be a size 0, there is too much junk in this trunk. It's just really discouraging when your parent (or step-parent) isn't supportive.

I'd ask this question in the football forums but I already know what the response would be from them. Figured I might as well just ask a much more level-headed crowd.

Are you a bad fan if you prefer to watch the game from home over going to the game?

I enjoy going to games but I like watching them from home more because I feel like I can get into the game more and see everything so much clearer with TV.

I think the worst part about it is that I'm alone. So pants was right. But I am gonna head over to a sports book and put $50 down on ISU to the final four or something similar.
Good choice. Based upon my expectations you are guaranteed a nice return on your investment. Also, be careful. The sports book can be the most depressing place in a casino if you aren't a serial gambler.

I don't think so. Especially when you don't live within an hour drive of the stadium. Much more than that and it gets to be early mornings/late nights or some expensive weekends with a hotel.

I hope she got coal for Christmas. It's always extra hurtful when someone who is supposed to be supportive of you makes comments like that.

You're a good fan. Some people prioritize things differently. Also, nice to hear that we're level-headed. I sometimes wear pointy hats to cover that fact up.

I enjoy watching games from the student section for basketball but not for football. These past three years have just been breeding grounds for some of the dumbest comments there.

This is the only hat I wear:

Not in my book. With the full TV coverage of almost all games and the advent of the big home TV's I really do like to watch at home. I think it's impacted gamewatches in sports bars too. The gamewatches used to be the only way to get some games (sports bar satellite feeds) and be the only places with lots of big screens. Still can be fun to socialize but you do get a better pure football watch at home.

Hell, I haven't been down for a game in a few years but haven't missed one. I even watched the ISU/Texas game last year with some Longhorn fans at a small Mpls bar where they had somehow figured a way to get that Longhorn Network feed. This fall I took my Cyclone.TV login to a sports bar so they could show the UNI game for our local fans here yet I am still a "bad" fan because I didn't actually go to the game?
