Dear America - Iowa Doesn't Care What You Think

Neither CyFan nor CyTwins actually think Rudock is better than Beathard. I'm sure they do believe Michigan is better than Iowa, which is something that most computer models would disagree with.

Obviously Iowa has to go 13-0 to make the playoff. Their schedule over the course of the season is very weak. However, a one loss Iowa team is not getting in to the playoff over a one loss traditional power (Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, Florida State, Notre Dame, etc.) no matter what their schedule looks like; that's just the way things are. The only issue that Iowa fans have right now is there is no discernible reason for Iowa to be ranked behind teams like Florida State, Stanford, or Notre Dame based on each team's resume at this point in the season. Hell, Iowa just passed Oklahoma State in the rankings this week when Oklahoma State's schedule to this point is far worse than Iowa's.
I think most agree Beathard is better then Ruddock, but we also have to agree that Ruddock is better than he was at Iowa. Harbaugh is a QB's coach and because of that you see the improvement.....

I'm not sure he has improved much if at all. He has more INT's through 7 games with Michigan (6) then he did in 12 games with Iowa (5). He is completing the exact same percentage as he did last year at 61.7%, and last year his yards per attempt were 7.1 compared to 6.6 this year. He also had 16 TD passes in 12 games at Iowa and is on pace for under 10 this year at Michigan.

But wasn't it his fault Iowa lost all those games last year? How is he winning at Michigan if he's doing worse than he did at Iowa?

Probably because he has better players around him. Yes I believe Michigan is better then Iowa but that also doesn't mean Iowa couldn't beat them if they played either.

Yeah, hawkeyescott is right. That was what every Iowa fan was saying too. No one hated him, and no one thought he was costing us games, but plain and simple- he is/was a game manager. When he has a dominant d, and a great running game (like he has at Mich) then he can be a very effective QB. At Iowa, though, we dont have those athletes, and need someone at QB who can be more aggressive, take more chances, and be more of a gamer, opposed to a game manager.

I don't think they are better than Iowa because of Rudock but they are better than Iowa and he's pretty much their entire offense. Like Dan said they don't really have a running game to help him out so he's putting the offense on his back

You dont honestly believe that do you? He's rushed for 3 Tds and thrown for 5. Hard to believe a 5-2 team, with two losses to the top 10, has their QB carrying their offense with only 8 combined TDs

Iowa could move the ball against Michigan, we're not even healthy and we hung 40 on a top 10 defense. They wouldn't be able to move the ball much against Iowa though, we know their QB sucks and their ground game isn't impressive. To me they're very overrated 'the Harbaugh factor' and will lose a few more the rest of the way.

Hawks fans say Iowa would beat Michigan because their ground game isn't impressive but now bring up why Rudock is succeeding at Michigan and it's because they are a great rushing team

Michigan isn't winning because of their offense. They're winning because of their defense. Iowa leads UM in every offensive statistical category.

So I'd say UM isn't succeeding because of their rushing or Rudock. I'd say it's because of their defense.

Winning cures all. Doesnt take a genius to figure that out. Hell, even you guys saw Iowa playing mediocre football for the better part of a decade against weakening conference. Did you see this coming? I sure as hell didnt. I know thats been the topic de jour for ISU fans to make fun of Iowa fans for wanting Ferentz gone, but you are trying to make Iowa fans look like 'Bama fans who wanted Saban gone after he didnt win 3 in a row. Stop it.

So you didn't take a look at the Iowa football poster with this "schedule" on it before the season??

What I don't understand is why did lots of hok fans (including Jon Miller I believe) think last year a 10-0 start would be possible because of a pathetic schedule and then think that it was just ssooooooo crazy to think that it couldn't happen this year?

It should have happened last year. Iowa's two toughest opponents were Wisconsin (ranked at end of the year) and Tennessee (ranked at the end of the year), and they lost both. This year Iowa hasn't played anyone close to those two teams, and that includes this year's Wisconsin and Northwestern (neither ranked now).

No one expected a 10-0 start. And dont use one crazy fan as an example of how the entire fan base looks at it, like you guys love to do. We actually started pretty well (minus ISU), but it was the way it ended with a blowout loss to Minn, L to Wisconsin, blowing a huge lead against Nebraska at home, then getting routed in bowl game. Add in a horrendous loss to ISU, and boom.... you have unrest and dissapointment, and Iowa making the same mistakes, and doing the same things they have been doing for years. This isnt hard.

I think you may have missed your mark on the dense comment. I will spell it out for you.

As an iowa fan I could not tell you a team left on isu schedule. I just assumed that everyone just marked them as losses and moved on to watching Iowa.

I don't think I am wrong either.

Yea, I get that. The only way that's actually possible is if you're a college football dunce.

As an Iowa State fan, I don't care about Northwestern's schedule, but I could tell you that they have Illinois left to play. Get it?

Life hack: One sentence is supposed to connect to the next until you have a fully formed thought.

The sad thing is that any team's schedule can easily be found online. ISU's schedule is easier to find on this site in the menu towards the top: Football->Schedules and Results. There's no valid excuse to play ignorant on not knowing ISU's schedule here.
