Dear America - Iowa Doesn't Care What You Think

Exactly. Nevermind the reason they fell out was because Iowa beat them... Rationality at its finest.
Okay, I give Iowa props for what they have done, 7-0 this year with the not such high hopes coming into this season, and potential with the teams remaining to run the table. But to me if you think they deserve more than they are getting you smoking some crazy stuff.... The Big 10 West is horrible, having Illinois St and North Texas on your schedule helped nothing. Do I think they can win out yes, which is a feat but after that they will most likely get buzzsawed by OSU than a Pac12 team in Rose Bowl. They have played no one this year (Iowa State included) and will not play anyone note worthy till postseason. So good luck to you.....

The ISU game isnt going anywhere, so that leaves a limited amount of room to schedule other OOC opponents who are legit. Pitt is a good OOC opponent. But, look around college football. Hardly anyone schedules more than one or two other P5 opponent. You might see LSU play Wisconsin in primetime in week one, and think "oh wow, now THEY know how to schedule tough OOC opponents". But what you dont see after that is they turn around and play Wisc-Whitewater, Akron and No Texas (just examples). Same can be said with Bama. You'll see them in a huge week 1 game, but after that, its Jacksonvill St, Tennessee St, and GA southern.

Lastly, I guess my question is- what do you want Iowa to do? Schedule a bunch of top 10 opponents for 3 of the 4 weeks to start the season? NO ONE would do that. NO ONE. I actually thought Iowas OOC this year was pretty legit. ISU is always a battle, Pitts a really, really tough playing P5 team similar to Iowa, and (the other) ISU is about as good as it gets for an FCS team. So that leaves No. Texas. Whatever, every team plays cupcakes.

This isn't an Iowa problem, but rather a B1G problem. The B1G diluted their brand with Maryland and Rutgers and furthermore, caused teams like Iowa to miss out in playing tOSU, UM, MSU, and PSU. Iowa got screwed by that expansion (which they voted for.) That's already done, however something to consider for future years' B1G scheduling and expansions.

(Unfortunately this action would harm ISU's chances to get into the B1G, however that wouldn't happen anyways...)

FWIW I'm not saying they deserve more credit nationally, I think they've gotten it the past two weeks and I'm by no means about to complain about a #12 national ranking.
Iowa will play in the B10 championship and they'll lose to OSU - who probably wins another National title - but it won't be a 'buzzsaw' and if we wind up in the Rose Bowl, not only would we not get 'buzzsawed' we'd beat a team like Stanford who managed to put up 6 points against a NW defense that we just hung 40 on, and put in our reserves with 10 minutes left in the 4th.

Completely agree. I dont think anyone was happy about the Rutgers, and to a lesser extent, the Maryland additions. I like MD for bball, but past that, the expansion sucked. I know its about money, and t.v, so while I appreciate the dough thats rolling in, as far as football goes, Rutgers and MD.... barf town. And youre right, those additions have 10000% caused Iowa to miss the big boys. I want ot play the big boys, the fanbase as a whole does too. Just not much we can do

I do agree that Iowa and Stanford would be a decent match-up(closer to the Pro-style, shoot-my-face-off offenses that you face all year), hopefully that works out for you, but what I actually think will happen, is you will end up against Utah or a more spread style that will light you up.....

Utah light us up? There's a laugh. I don't watch a ton of P12 football but I've caught them here and there and the entire game against Michigan and they wouldn't worry me a bit.

Based on these posts I would love to watch Iowa-Stanford or Iowa-Utah with you. Would be a fun evening.

One thing I have to laugh at is those who think Iowa automatically gets trounced by the east champion if they make the conference championship. Oh you mean the OSU team that beat Indiana and Northern Illinois by 7? Or MSU who beat Rutgers/Western Michigan by 7, and Purdue by 3?

Iowa may not make it there, and likely lose 1 or 2 along the way, but if they DO make it I doubt they get smoked.

Both the Stanford and Utah games that you mentioned were the first games of the year. I think Stanford and Utah have since hit there stride. By the way do you also think that Iowa would be able to move the ball again Michigan?

If it makes you feel better, I have Iowa beating OSU by 2 touchdowns.

You are talking about sandwich games from teams that are just starting to hit their stride, MSU, OSU, both with smoke Iowa, you like a lot of the fan-base has your heads in the clouds..... That and if you do run that table and lose in the B10 champisonship it will be another USC(we were 1 game away from playing for national championship).....

I would be shocked now if Iowa doesn't win the B1G West given their remaining schedule and effectively a two-game lead on Northwestern and Wisconsin with head-to-head factored in. I think OSU finds their groove here soon though and they will be at full steam in what would be a playoff play-in game for them in Indianapolis. Iowa will be seriously outmanned at pretty much every position (just like most teams playing OSU) and they will be fired up.

Iowa 2015 and Wisconsin 2014 have a lot of similarities and we know how that went in Indy last December

Iowa could move the ball against Michigan, we're not even healthy and we hung 40 on a top 10 defense. They wouldn't be able to move the ball much against Iowa though, we know their QB sucks and their ground game isn't impressive. To me they're very overrated 'the Harbaugh factor' and will lose a few more the rest of the way.

"I?" Do you play college football in addition to your past college basketball career?
