Will the real ISU team please stand up?

I think this game will really tell us what we are in for. This game will be the perfect chance to show up or shut down for the year. If we show up I think we win, not by much but still win.

If we come out like the 2nd half against Iowa, seasons over boys.

Barely beating Toledo doesn't give me warm fuzzies for the B12 slate.

I called, they said they had a 'thing' that night so they could only make it for half the game.

Me either.
But if we can't beat them............. well, at least KU would be up next.
Beat them and maybe the team will have some life in them and squeak out a game or two in conference place this year.
 
ISU leads 35-24 with 5 minutes to play, then:

1. Toledo returns the kickoff for a TD
2. Toledo fails the 2-point conversion, trails 35-30
3. ISU goes 3-and-out
4. ISU attempts to punt but fumbles the snap
5. Toledo recovers in the end zone for another TD, leads 36-35
6. Toledo fails the 2-point conversion, leads 36-35
7. With 1 minute left, ISU drives to the Toledo 20
8. Toledo blocks Netten's FG attempt as time expires, wins 36-35

Wait. This very-ISU-like game already happened.

I think we win by less than 9. If we don't you have my blessing at a full meltdown, and I may be joining you.

I don't see us stopping their run game, and without a run game of our own, I don't see us having a huge passing day.

We've had more "should win" games go down as losses that I don't think anybody should be surprised if we lose to a solid MAC team by double digits. Disappointed, yes, surprised, no. They key to expectations is not having any in the first place:)
 
We lose 28-24 --

Here is how it will play out:
We have a 3 point lead with under 4 minutes to play. Rhoads orders Mangino to run 2 consecutive run plays (which get stuffed). No time runs off because Toledo had all 3 TOs left. 3rd down we get crraaazy and roll-out Sam on a bootleg... he's got lazard along the sideline on a 12 yd come back, but chooses to throw the shallow drag route for a gain of 8... 1 yard short of the first down. With the ball on Toledo's 45, Rhoads chooses to "make them earn it" and punts. They march down the field in 90 seconds and score a TD for the win.

I hope I'm wrong, but we've seen this story before.

C'mon with the negativity after one game. I think you should get a one week ban like the one I got the week before the season. :jimlad:
