Beathard vs. Richardson

Here's a clue:

Beathard started the bowl game and was pretty bad throughout.

Beathard looked good when they stopped rotating QB's ever series and actually let him get in a rhythm. Every Rudock series was a waste. Iowa is actually starting a RB at the RB position, and a QB at the QB position. Let's revisit this conversation after the game and then again after the season. Beathard hands down.

Give me CJB. I want a QB who is in your face when you screw up and has a swagger. Much like Drew Tate. I hate Iowa but I'd take a QB with an attitude of Tate in a heart beat.

According to the USA Today coaches salary database, Ferentz earned about $4.1 million in 2014. That ranked ninth among the highest-paid coaches in college football.

I agree with this.

Sam is Busch Light- you know what you are getting, and it's okay, but you wouldn't post about it on facebook.

Beathard is the mystery foreign beer at the grocery. Might be really awesome, might be terrible. And you won't know for sure until you open it.

Can't be that great if it wasn't good enough to force it's way past the natural ice that was Rudock for two years.

Best analogy ever.

I will be curios to see How Capt Kirk responds when Beathard has a 3 interception game. He may pull in the reigns on his gun slinging QB then.

Before the 2014-15 season I heard Ex QB James Vandenberg talking to some farmers at the Farm Progress show. He told them then that Ruddock would probably play the entire season because it drives Ferentz crazy when his QB takes chances ala Beathard. Even when it works. We will see if the leopard can truly change his spots.

The job was clearly Rudocks after he won 8 games his first year as a starter. Problem was, he regressed. And, Id say he did a pretty good job earning his (CJ) way into starting. He was a year younger, was more wild than JR, and wasnt, at first, "kirks guy"

And obviously worse than Rudock.

Rudock was the better QB last year, this year who knows. It'll be really interesting to see how CJB over the course of the season, especially because if he gets hurt Iowa is screwed

0-15 is all I need to know. And I'm a super-biased Iowa State fan. I'll take Beathard until Sam proves himself.

Safe to say if Sam had Purdue on his schedule, he'd likely have a conference win. And give me a break on the 0-15. He was THE reason we beat KU when Jantz went down.

I'm a fan of Sam, but go ahead and give him that KU game. It's not like 1 -15 would change the argument.

He was? And dont throw out his comp %, either. Thats been proven time and time again that the comp % doesnt tell the whole story.

Im not saying he was worlds better, but if he was the better QB last year, wouldnt he still be starting at Iowa, instead of Michigan? Or do you know more than the coaches?

You said yourself CJB had too small of a sample size. Rudock was and always has been a horrific QB.
In no way shape or form has Rudock ever been a better QB than CJB.
