Tyler Sash has died

Re: Tyler Sash has died?

As far as injury goes I am sure he wasn't 100 percent. However I do believe he had some financial struggles as well. Pretty sure I read in the Oskaloosa paper that the bank had started the foreclosure process. If true, I'm sure that could be a factor in drug abuse.

Re: Tyler Sash has died?

I grew up in Oskaloosa and only lived a few blocks away from him and his family. Before he got into HS he would come over to our house and throw the football around with my little brother. Really nice guy, RIP.

Re: Former Hawkeye Standout, Sash, Found Dead Today

Close mods. Did not see posted below. AND I CHECKED I PROMISE!
The problem is those of us that don't want to see In-State Rivals trash stuff won't see this thread. I get that Tyler is a Hawk, but he was an Iowan and well liked. I searched and didn't find the thread either. I opted-in here just to verify that's why I didn't see it.

RIP Tyler!

Re: Tyler Sash has died?

and averaged about 8 interceptions per game against ISU
Yikes. I probably blocked him out of mind if it was that bad!
I really don't care about the Hawks so I don't usually know any of their players. Sad news for those who knew him.

Re: Tyler Sash has died?

Condolences to his family and friends 27 is pretty darn young to die.

Re: Tyler Sash has died?

Very sad news. My condolences to his family and friends. 27 is way, way too young to go.

Re: Tyler Sash has died?

Lol @ FBCurt, hope you feel big bad and tough now.

It appears what was said has been removed, but the thought of anything with even a hint of poor taste makes my stomach turn. I am as anti hawk as they come, but this is a very sad story. I can only imagine the pain and fear this guy must have been going through recently. He played the game of football in a way we all want it played, I will always respect him for that.

Re: Tyler Sash has died?

Sad to hear as he is way too young. Condolences to his family.

At some point collegiate and NFL programs need to be held accountable for freely adminstering pain medications.

Re: Tyler Sash has died?

I played basketball against Sash in Summer Team Basketball Turneys in SE Iowa. Dude kicked my *** up and down the floor. Wasn't a big fan of him, but you knew he was a great player on the field. Just a sad, sad deal.

Re: Tyler Sash has died?

RIP to an Iowan. Glad he was able to live out his dream AND get a SB ring. His family must have been so proud of his accomplishments. Gone way too soon.

Re: Tyler Sash has died?

Very sad. Whether you knew him or not, liked him or not, no family deserves to go through something like this.

Re: Tyler Sash has died?

I first saw him play for Oskaloosa against Waukee. Waukee had a decent team. He single handed-ly beat Waukee, fastest kid I ever saw play HS football in Iowa next to Tim Dwight.

Thoughts and prayers for him and his family.

Re: Tyler Sash has died?

Wonder if there will be a moment of silence Saturday.

I wondered that too. It would be nice, although I don't know that we've had a moment of silence for any of the Iowa State football players that have died too young over the last several years. I don't know that any of them have happened during game weeks though.

Not sure I would go there. I am thinking this is either a drug overdose or a suicide. While certainly tragic, the circumstances and also that it involves a former player that is not a Cyclone would be that I would likely refrain from the public moment of silence. Better off for Iowa to acknowledge him at their own stadium at the appropriate time.

Wow. When you stop posting, there will be a moment of celebration...lasting years.

Do tell, what circumstances make it appropriate?

I posted this in another thread. Read it and then quit being such an ***.
