Recruit Lists v2.0

If current staff isn't retained you can scratch Bridges and Coffey and any other guy that was being recruited off the list. They would have no connection with the current staff and recruiting is all about building relationships.
If that happens I would imagine you might see them go after some JUCO bigs for next year and maybe some transfers. They still need to try and get another big for this year. Especially if GT isn't coming back.
It will be interesting to see what happens

What do you mean by this? One guy from the staff? All guys? 50% of the guys?

Maybe for big name recruits, but CSP talked about guys texting him making sure ISU was still interested. I'm sure we will recruit some of the same players even if the entire staff changes.

Why would you "scratch guys off" before they've had a chance to deal with the new group?

What I mean is it will be very difficult to land them if the assistant recruiting them is gone. These coaches build relationships over years with these kids. Now for 2017 there is still a lot of time but this year is going to depend a lot on who the staff is and who they have been recruiting. Let's face it, a lot of highly rated guys were interested in ISU because of Hoiberg and then secondly bc of their recruiter. If both are gone why would they those ISU when the other schools on their list still have the same staff and they have a strong relarionship with them?
Bridges isn't going to ISU anyway so that one doesn't really matter.

Recruiting is one area that I think Prohm will have an advantage over Fred because he is someone that I think actually enjoys college recruiting. He may not be as good of an offensive mind as Hoiberg but I think if you give him some time he could be a great recruiter at ISU. Kids love when the coach gives them a ton of attention, texting them etc. people have made fun of Ford and others for the texts he has sent to kids but he gets very good recruits.

I get that feeling too. He relates well to kids and comes off as very genuine. He doesn't seem to shy away from connecting with kids.

Fred was a total stud, and very charismatic. I have no doubt he had strong bonds and cared greatly for his players, but he's certainly takes a more "business like" approach. His skillset is that of a NBA coach, more than a college coach. Whereas Prohm seems more comfortable with the college scene.

Another thing CSP could well have going is the guy sounds like a workaholic. He definitely enjoys what he does and puts in the time. Quite impressed with the recruits he was getting to MS. Must be because he was putting forth the effort. We will be OK if the staff changes. This is the CSP show now. Don't think things are going to be as bad in 16-17 as some are suspecting. I expect our recruit lists to change from Fred's but could be just as exciting.

Other than the fact Fred loves the NBA, one of the reasons discussed that helped expedite his departure was the whole recruiting thing. Don't think he liked it, and being human like the rest of us most people avoid things they don't like whenever possible.

Still think we lost Vaughn because people got in his ear saying Fred was going to the NBA last year.

The beauty of tranfers is you maybe need to court them a month?

Like your optimism. I really do. I also think we have to remain patient, though, when talking aout 2016-2117, because after losing so much experience and so many scholarships yet to fill, its bound to be a dropoff. How much, who knows? But, imo, it was going to be with Fred, too, considering the present team.

I don't agree with that.

I realize there is a lot of optimism with a new coach and the recruits that CFH was on but there a lot of moving parts to get set before we start speculating on who may or may not be coming in 2016.

The best reason I am optimistic that ISU won't be cut initially by some of the top players is that the style of play and CSP attitude seem to be similar or "Hoibergian". The players are first attracted by the open style and Green light the players should get thus I would assume most would like to talk to Prohm to see if they click and still be intrigued about running in Hilton. We also shouldn't assume that a player that CFH would prioritize may not be what CSP would thus we could cool on some prospect for a verity of reasons. I'd assume they would be similar but there are a lot of unknown's now including Prohms first Staff and the connections they may have already fostered.

I am really excited to see the staff (once put together) starts offering during the upcoming Summer AAU season, I think we'll learn a lot.

Normally I would agree but our main selling point in 2016 is guaranteed starting spots and massive amounts of playing time.

Agree, definitely in the 4/5 positions. But hopefully Noskowiak, Cooke, Thomas, Burton, Babb, will be a good foundation for the 1-3 spots. I think we'll end up finding out in 2016 whether these guys were better as role players coming off the bench behind our seniors & Monte this next season or legit Big12 caliber starters the following.

You should tell them that, as our new coach received texts from some of them already.

Yeah, that is another key part to the transition with Prohm- if we had hired a slower paced coach, then our recruits would probably be turned off as that isn't why they were looking at ISU.

I'm not sleeping on Burton.
