Bowl or Bust

LOL. For 19 consecutive losing seasons, the Hawkeyes had fairly good fan support. Coaches were fired occasionally but generally after at least 5 seasons of losing records....unless you are Frank Lauterbur, who was winless in his 3rd season. They generally averaged around 50,000 fans in a stadium that held 60,000 during that nearly 2 decade long losing seasons streak.

I am sure you are beating your drum telling Hawkeye fans to stay away from Kinnick today
. LOL.

IMO, a True Fan supports their team......in good times and bad. Fans that only give their support when the team is winning is called a "bandwagon fan".

Like the Cyclone Fight Song says: "Loyal Sons Forever True. And We Will Fight The Battle Through."

I won't tell anyone how they should spend their money or how they should be a fan. I, however, chose to give up my season tickets to the Hawks this year because I'm not happy with the direction things appear to be headed. That was my decision. I respect people who chose to keep going. That's their decision. It's not my place to judge nor is it yours.

I will always be a Hawkeye fan. I will always cheer for them. However, I will no longer pay the money it takes for 4 season tickets and long drives until they prove to me that they are back on the right track. I will still support them from the comfort of my own couch via my big screen television and if I feel like it I may go to IC for one or two games. Tickets won't be hard to come by. One thing is for sure... I'll be damn happy I didn't burn over $2000 on season tickets and tailgating expenses if they put forth another lackluster effort this year. If they manage to impress me and make me believe things are turning around then they may get my family and I back in the stadium. That depends on their performance.

I say let's beat an FCS team on our home field before we automatically tick the W box next to a P5 team.

Are you going to keep going down that road again....and again....and again? Listen, we got beat by UNI in 2013. And we got beat by NDSU in 2014. NDSU is not just another FCS team and you know it. Give them credit. IMO, we should not lose to them. At the same time they are the reigning 4 consecutive FCS National Champions that have a 5 game winning streak of Power 5 Conference schools. They were much better than Iowa and several other P5 schools on our schedule.

UNI won't be an easy win. They are a very good FCS team. But we will win it this year.

We will beat Iowa. Have you looked at their Depth Chart? Really weak lineup. And automatically assuming CJB is going to be great is really gulping down the kool-aid. Plus the game is at Jack Trice. I actually think we have a possibility of winning all 6 of those games.

Who is automatically assuming anything!? Do you suffer from delusional fantasies? I'm beginning to worry about your mental health.

Explains why you are here then. If Iowa State starts winning you will jump on the bandwagon and become a Cyclone fan.:spinny:

Thinking that the Iowa game is merely a tossup is completely delusional. Your losses from last year's team are very significant. Our team is actually much improved over last year. Plus the game is at Jack Trice Stadium. Plus you still have Coach Ferentz and Greg Davis.

I am sorry for you.

....Anyways, why cheer for Iowa when their only tough opponent is Wisconsin??? They will always lose to big brother Wisconsin. Big 10 West football is about as enjoyable as getting one's wisdom teeth removed.

That is not why Dan McCarney was forced to resign. And in all honesty, I think there was buyer's remorse after we got Chizik.

We brought in the #71 ranked recruiting class (#9 in conference). We lost Farniok, Gannon, Wimberly, West, Bibbs, Brackens, Miller, Jensen and Morrissey.

How are we much improved?

My point was that I have never said I just "expect" CJB to be great. I think he's a better option than Rudock. That's all I've said. At the very least he provides a much needed excitement factor. Now that could very well result in turnovers and ugly performances, but it sure beats watching check downs and punts. Iowa's offense doesn't have enough talent to simply play it safe. They need to make things happen. CJB is capable of doing that. Jake played like he was satisfied with a 3 and out.

Those players didn't impact the game that much as we lost every big 12 game. Exciting to see fresh faces imo. Tucker, Harris, Warren, etc.

I would add Mutcherson to that list and also mention that even with those guys it was the worst defense in college football. Pretty tough to argue a "much improved" theory at this point without seeing them in action.

A HA! So there's nowhere to go but up! I see what Stormin means now, once you hit rock bottom there's no reason to not be optimistic, I mean you can't sink any lower....although I suppose you could flounder on the bottom for awhile.

This is true. I do expect some improvement, but only marginal. It's pretty tough to get any worse. The best players from both the offensive and defensive line last year are gone (Farniok and Morrissey). Everyone knows what the oline looked like without Farniok in the fold, and the defensive line... well I'm not sure anything else needs to be said. Tucker alone should at least make the middle a little bit better.

Jensen was injured the last several games. Bibbs injured the last 2 games. West was injured. Miller injured.

Our Defensive Line will be much improved. Our Linebackers will be improved. Yes, Tucker and Jordan Harris are that good. We actually have a lot of decent players to rotate in our Defensive Line. Brackens was okay at times, but according to reports his bad attitude will not be missed and neither will his missed assignments on defense. Explains why Ferch was playing.

Our secondary will be better. 3 of 4 starters return. Sometimes starter Ken Lynn moved to WR because he was beat out by RS Freshmen and Wiltz. That indicates better.

Our line should be improved as well. Even though we miss Farniok. Lalk should be okay. Hoping for a line up of Campos, Taiese, Lalk, Burton and Dagel. That line could be very good.......I know, we have to see it.

Sam is good and should be better. Our receivers should be better with Bundrage back along with Montgomery and Lazard. And the RB's may even be better as well. Tyler Brown looked good last year. And Mike Warren looks like the real deal. Hope Syria makes it back. Kicking game is the same and should improve even more.

I am not counting on any of the incoming Freshmen unless it would be the RB's who were actually pretty good recruits.

Just think. As bad as that team was, they BEAT Iowa. And Iowa lost their 2 stud DT's. And a 1st round pick from their OL. Plus their starting RB and a couple LB's in Alston and Spearman. And your receivers look weak.

Damn, we're going to be awesome. Better OL, better DL, better QB, better WRs, better LBs, better secondary, better RBs, better kickers.

I know. Pathetic right? Inexcusable in my opinion. Which is why I'm not giving them over $2000 for season tickets this coming year. Not when they've shown they can only manage 17 points against the worst defense in college football. That's not something I can get behind. That product doesn't deserve my money.
