Kansas a 2 seed?

IMO it only confirms my position that we were a 3 regardless of what happened in KC.

I think falling behind so often at the end of the season was significant to the committee.

Back to the original question. If we were the first #3 and KU was the last #2, it suggests to me that a blow out yesterday might have moved us to a #2 seed?

I don't believe margin of victory is a factor for the committee, at least it's not suppose to be.

Maybe the committee actually liked ISU more than KU. They could have winked at each other and gave us the 3 seed in the south while giving KU the 2 in the Midwest with Kentucky.

I'm smoking my Omaha tickets that I bought during the presale! And I think beating a team at least suggests that maybe we should be seeded above them. They must have been the last #2 and we must have been the first #3. That's close enough to have a conversation about it.

We are I way better position. I would.not trade our 3 for their 2 for anything. I n believe this was a gift.

Yeah that chair alluded it was VERY much part of their "eye test" with UCLA and Ole miss in their losses to Arizona and kentucky as reasons to get in.

With WSU getting placed there also, Omaha is going to be a pretty hot ticket, especially Sunday if WSU and KU both win.

Happy with a 3 seed. 2nd straight year on that line. With who's coming back next year, ISU should be capable of capturing a high seed again.

Fred's/ISU's window to get to an elite 8/final 4 is RIGHT HERE IN FRONT OF US RIGHT NOW! Fred's 5 years have flown by fast, but he's gotten this program to some heights no one expected.

It was interesting how we were placed as the 9th best team, wonder how far we would have fallen if we didnt win the tournament especially since OU and Baylor are directly behind us. Cannot wait to see the damage this conference does in the tournament, its a night and day difference between the B12 and every other conference but maybe the top of the ACC.
I hope the B12 does do some damage but as a Jayhawk I think this team has the worst post presence they've had in a decade. I don't see them doing anything in this tourney. I like ISU's draw and think they have the best shot. Also like Baylor's.

Sometimes the committee just decides it wants to do something and then comes up with a BS way to rationalize it.

Just like the rationalizations the football committee came up with for keeping TCU out last year.

Except the committee chairperson said it was NEVER a discussion - so KU was always going to be a 2 and ISU a 3. End of discussion.

I'm still convinced that the loser of Saturday's game was bound for the Midwest region either way.

If ISU loses to KU, Kansas gets the 7th spot on the S-curve and gets the South 2, bumping Gonzaga to the Midwest 2, which would then allow Iowa State to be slotted as the Midwest 3.

I imagine at least some of the committee members noticed this potential and figured it would serve as appropriate reward for winning the Big 12 tournament.

Really doesn't matter who gets the low 2 or high 3. They rewarded KU for what they did over the season. It doesn't mean they think they are the better team at this moment. If they strictly used that method Iowa would be a 12 seed, UCLA would not have sniffed it. Now of course I could go into the conspiracy theories that being a blue blood also played into it considering 15 years ago not only did we win the conference and the tourney.....we just had 4 losses and ended up with a 2 instead of a 1 because we don't have the history of a KU or Kentucky. But I don't think that had anything to do with it now. Basically they had to place someone somewhere and they stuck with what they had. And with the draws, if we take care of business.......by the end of the week no will remember why they were a two and we were a three. All they will know is ISU is still playing.

KU won the reg. season crown over 18 games....We won the post season crown with 3 games in 3 days...KU played a better non-conf. schedule as well. Those two things beat us, but a nose. But I would rather not be the number 2 seed in the Midwest, and be in UK's bracket. Have fun with that, plus they got a no win match up with Wichita State. If KU wins, they should have won...If WSU wins, it could help WSU continue its program growth!

Kansas knows all too well what it's like to face an MVC powerhouse in round 2, after losing to UNI a few years back. Add to that the potential humiliation of losing to the school they work so hard not to acknowledge, and the dowsnside of that matchup is huge. Winning any way it comes, ugly or otherwise, is just assumed by the KU fanbase. So I can see what you might mean by the no win sitation. Outside the state of Kansas, though, I think Wichita State is highly respected, so I would not be surprised if a lot of people pick the Shockers in what would be a mild 7 - 2 upset.

I'm with most everyone else in this thread, KU deserved the spot over us.

That said, how many Cyclone fans are upset with this? Hopefully zero. KU's potential path to the Final 4 is Wichita St (AP #12), Notre Dame (AP #11 & who just won the ACC tournament), Kentucky (AP#1). Those teams have a combined 9 losses all year!

Ya, I think the committee rewarded us by not giving us the two seed. Kansas's path is ridiculous and hardly anyone is picking them to the Elite 8. I really didn't want to see Notre Damn after watching some of the win over UNC.
