I've got a feeling that Fred will do what Fennelly did recently: have his star guard sit out a game or two to readjust their attitude. If BDJ isn't remorseful (and he very well may be remorseful), then it would probably be the best course of action for the long term.

I think a lot of you have already gotten a bad taste in your mouth about BDJ and this just added fuel to that fire. No one here knows what Fred has said to BDJ about his being at Iowa State. Nor does anyone here know if BDJ is on a short leash, contrary to what is made to be believed. Maybe shutting your face about the kid is best. Very minimal facts are available to us and will probably remain that way. So please, on behalf of those of us that don't feel unwarranted hate towards the kid, keep your conspiracy theories to yourselves.
there is some miscommunication here. The police said they executed a search warrant. Those need to be signed.
Court said no probable cause to file charges, not that there was no probable cause to do the search.
I would give him the same suspension that Thomas and Nader got for their drunk driving charges. 3 games. We'd miss bdj against Iowa, but he's gotta be smarter than that.
The dudes been here for 5 or 6 months and this is at least the 5th time he has had a complaint or something like that? If he keeps doing and doesn't get punished then he will never learn and he will keep doing it all year which could lead to suspension again conference foes. So I'd suspened him, and try to teach him a lesson, but for the Southern and Drake games 
I would just say that we have the luxury of having a head coach who has a great handle on these situations and that we can all trust to gather the evidence and make a decision that's best for BDJ, the team and the University, but then we wouldn't have anything to talk about. So on that note, BAN HIM FOREVER!
Of course now you can tell me exactly where that line gets drawn right? Because that's what other players will ask. If there was a clear expectation laid out with the team then suspend him. If your deciding after the fact to draw the line in the sand behind him that's bs.

Nor do they require "you stayed up late and ****** off your neighbors" to suspend people.
This. I hope everyone calling for a suspension holds themselves to the same standard.
What if you got arrested for shoplifting but the judge dismissed the charges saying there was no basis for them? Should your employer suspend or fire you?
I think you are way off on this. I know a few cops. Generally, if you are respectful to a cop when doing something minor, you usually get a warning and sent on your way. If you are rude, obnoxious, disrespectful, said cop WILL give you a ticket, and will look for other things to charge you with too. When a cop throws a bunch of charges out to see what will stick, they are basically saying "ok, you want to act like a jerk, I will treat you like one". Things like "interference with official acts" and such get added to whatever else you did to start with.
And clearly, this is not abuse of power. Abuse of power would be "give me a game worn jersey, or else I will arrest you" or "you didn't do anything wrong, but I am going to arrest you".

Noise complaints...
Noise travels in funny ways. I had a roommate in college who had to work early, like 8 maybe 7, and would often come in to my room to turn the music down, and one time he came in, looked at me and I just shrugged was like "i dont know what to do" because in my room you could barely even hear the music.
Plus once you get a noise complaint, I think people will be much quicker to go to the cops the next time.

It's in between. If the cops were giving him every chance the charges wouldn't have been dropped. If he was being a good citizen he wouldn't have to be told 5 times to be quiet.
