Dejean Jones

What I dont get is how the police can go unpunished in situations like this, where is their fine and jail sentence for abusing their power (no probably cause to search) ect. Im not sticking up for BDJ in the slightest but this case got dismissed quickly for a reason.

who is the 2nd guy?

Whether BDJ misses any time is entirely up to BDJ. How he handles what happened with Fred will determine that. If he's remorseful and sorry and owns up to the mistake then prob none but if he seems to not care than I can see Fred sitting him. Idk just seems to me that CFH is the type who wants to see u own up and learn from your mistakes.

I don't think it's up to BDJ at all. Of course he's going to say the right things.

Police go unpunished? Police abuse their power? That never happens in America.

I'm no legal expert, but isn't an apartment reeking of marijuana when the resident opens the door considered probable cause?

My god. Let's stop with the police power abuse talk. Isn't there any threads in the cave you can talk about this in? I'd rather stick with what we know for sure instead of randomly accusing people of things.

If he's suspended for anything more than the 1st half, then Fred is making the wrong call. Bad precedent.

I could see him getting benched for the 1st half....aka...make better decisions and don't put yourself in that situation. But for him to miss the full game is ridiciulous.

Completely agree with this.

suspending him in this situation is sketchy, sets a bad precedent. Internal punishment is the way to go IMO.

What precedent? Keep f'ing up and causing us trouble and you won't play?

Some people seem to be glossing over the fact that police had been there 5 times before and the staff had already been involved. BDJ seems to still not get the messsage, or care - which would be clearly worse.

The 124.407 charge was dismissed because the judge determined that the criminal complaint failed to establish probable cause of all of the elements of the offense alleged on its face--there was no preliminary (probable cause) hearing where any other evidence of what actually happened was presented. This is most definitely not something for which an officer should be criminally punished. Other charges could conceivably still be charged stemming from the incident.

I would probably suspend him. It seems like nothing hurts an athlete quite like having to watch their team play without them, especially in a big game like this. He may not have broken that law, but it doesn't take a genius to know that actions like this are selfish and hurt the team.

Plus, can you imagine how funny it would be if we won in Iowa City without BDJ AND McKay?

My guess- they'll (ISU) continue to "gather information" about what happened for the next couple of days, and BDJ will play against Iowa.
