Derrick Willies leaving Iowa

Maryland's pass D is #81, Purdue's is #93. Better? Sure.

In the fourth quarter against Purdue our O ran 25 plays, 20 of which were runs. That's called milking the clock because he'd led us to a two possession lead. If he were coming back from a three possession deficit in the 4th, as Rudock was against Maryland, I'm willing to bet his passing numbers would have been more inflated. And you'd look at those stats and automatically assume he played better.

I watched the Purdue game and thought Beathard looked bad. Agree to disagree. Hopefully he gets another chance to win the job

It's all relative. I watched Purdue and after dealing with what JR had done all season, yes, I thought CJB played solid.

I really don't understand some Iowa fans' outrage about Willies transferring. He showed a couple flashes he could play but if he was better than Smith or Martin Manley he would have been playing more. To me it is an indictment on the kid that he thinks he should be handed the starting job as a redshirt freshman. The word is he decided he was going to leave after the ISU game. Really? three games and you start talking transfer. To me that shows a problem with the kid's attitude and why would you want a kid like on the team anyway. Lazard was a 5 star recruit and he didn't expect to come in and be a starter. He worked hard and has taken advantage of Bundrage being injured to show he can produce. And Lazard is a much better talent than Willies.

He played better against Pitt and Purdue than JR played in 4 of his 6 starts this season. Again, it makes no difference, KF is starting JR no matter what.

He didn't play better at Pitt. I would say they were equal. The defense sucked the first half and one of the receivers gave the ball to Pitt on what should have been a catch.

Great. If you've watched every snap of every Iowa game it's not hard to see that CJB has the stronger arm, is more accurate, is a better runner, and makes better decisions. Rudock bails on plays way too early either by taking sacks or throwing the ball into the dirt. Rudock mustered 3 points on our home field against a horrible Ball St. team until there was 5 minutes left and we needed a two-TD last minute rally to win. He led us to 17 points against ISU at home, which has the 108th ranked scoring D in the nation. If you've watched all the Iowa games and think JR is the better QB, good for you. But you're in the minority, no matter what the passer ratings say.

I don't know what games you're watching but CJ isn't more accurate. That's actually his problem. He's Vandenburg 2.0

I've watched them all. I think he's easily the more accurate passer. They've both missed easy passes for sure. But CJB is more accurate, especially with the deep ball. In the one drive he was given against Ball St. he put the ball on the number in the end zone if our WR (can't remember one) hadn't bobbled it as he went out of bounds. On the big 3rd and long against Pitt he stood in until the last second and delivered a dart to Hamilton that gave us a huge first down. JR would have thrown it away by then. Against Purdue the back shoulder TD pass to KMM was right on the mark, along with the TD pass that hit Hillyer in the numbers that was dropped.

gotta love arguments where none of the stats back you up, but you just go ahead anyway because you just wish it to be so.

Rudock has issues, being accurate generally isn't one of them. His career compl % is about 10% higher than Cj's is this year (and this year alone he's about 13% higher)

You act like Jake never gets balls dropped.

His completion % and passer ratings are better because he never throws the ball downfield. So he checks down and completes more 3-yard passes on 3rd and 7. Awesome.

I did say he had issues right? CJ has those same passes, the difference is he completes less of them. So again, Jake is more accurate.

Christmas in October .... they can't even agree who is the better QB... think about that CF. Two hawks are on CF, arguing with each other about who is the better QB. "did you even watch every snap" "yes I did" "Stats" "zone read" ....

this is gold, everyone... this is gold.

Iowa fans are making progress. The words 'national championship' are not in the same sentence now with 'Iowa QB'.

The program chalked it up to him wanting to be closer to his dad. KF was asked if Willies had expressed dissatisfaction with lack of playing time, and said no. Beathard and Willies were tight, CJ talked to him the day before he announced the transfer. Here's what CJ said when asked if Willies wasn't happy with playing time:

"I think that was one of the things," Beathard said. "I guess he wasn't getting the reps that he wanted to get and that was maybe one of the reasons (Willies decided to leave). But there was a lot of stuff that went into it."

CJ also committed the Cardinal Sin of not keeping it behind closed doors and also revealed he had not been practicing with the 1s.

Fuh-rentz is saying this is the first he's heard of it. Truthful or straight up lying to TavernHawk Nation?

it's hard to say without having video of it but just reading the transcript it appears that he hadn't heard it. Why would he lie about this?
