Vikings RB Adrian Peterson indicted on Child Injury charge

When investigators questioned Peterson, they say he told them he regarded it as a normal spanking and not excessive. A grand jury seated earlier this summer decided not to charge him, but now a second new grand jury has indicted Peterson.

How can this happen?

Where I feel this is going

Uh oh:

Houston radio station has police that say Peterson child in question is 4-year-old son, not 11-year-old.
Surely if you're ok with beating an 11 year old you're ok with beating a 4 year old? Kid's gotta learn, amirite?

I think you can take a case to a grand jury as many times as you'd like. Possibly have to present new evidence though.

The point is for the child to fear the implement, not the parent. If a parent uses their hand, there's a greater chance that the child ends up fearing the parent. Unless you do what AP did - then you end up fearing the implement AND the parent.

That logic makes zero sense. A kid isn't going to develop a fear of trees if Daddy beats the hell out of him with a branch - he knows Daddy was wielding it.

I was worried I was the only one that thought that line of thinking was ridiculous.

The kid in question just released a statement saying he deeply regrets his role in the incident.

if the kid hadn't been sassing his mouth, none of this would have happened. He should take some responsibility. Kid's just in it for the candy anyway.

Not at all.
Well, if Dad is loving while the kid is behaved, and only uses the object when the kid is misbehaved... I could see that line of thinking. When you see the object, you know you've done something bad. I don't think it's that outrageous for a kid to think that.

Kids grow up thinking lots of things that don't make sense in the minds of adults.

I was also a rarely spanked child and do not have an issue with a timely, warranted spank on the bottom. But if you are leaving marks on the child, you are doing it wrong. Drawing blood? Yeah, he used it like a ******* whip.

I agree with this point of view.

I'm curious to hear VikesFan28 opinion on this.

I have a name you can change to as well.
