Sam either cannot or is not willing to throw the ball down field. Is this on the OF coach play routes, the receivers not getting open, or Sam not finding receivers. Seemed he had a reasonable amount of time to throw. Seemed to have lost all confidence after the first quarter.

If you think we lost the game because of Sam or think that we'll be a vastly improved team with Grant or Joel you simply don't understand football.

Stop posting about down the field passing. Mangino is not known for throwing it deep often.

How dare anyone want their QB to stretch the field and not just throw screens into coverage or hit a guy 5 yards short of a first down on 3rd and long!

STOP POSTING ABOUT THAT!!!!!!!

Did you ever watch the Kansas offense back when mangino was their coach? Apparently not. He attempts to get his teams to do the simple things, we were not able to do that yesterday. If you are gonna whine about us sucking go cheer for Bama.

Sam. It will be Sam.

I'm not saying whether or not it should be, but if you've been paying any attention at all you know it will be.

Also amusing to me is all the people who said, "I don't care who it is I just want CPR to pick someone and stick with him!" And now calling for the backup. :v_SPIN:

It's Richardson. You dont bench a QB after week 1 and you dont fire a coach after week 1. Doing either is stupid as hell

A hundred shots downfield won't matter if the defense continues to fall apart after half time. I'm convinced Baylors going to put up 100 points this year!

He did throw down the field. And he didn't have plenty of time. There was a push in the middle of the pocket on several dropbacks, forcing him out of the pocket.

Plus you need some open receivers to throw to.

We have been very consistent.

Is it really that hard to run block?? or coach it??? seriously.

The funny thing is that I thought Mangino had enough credibility that Cyclone fans wouldn't second-guess his decisions. His resume seems to indicate he knows a thing or two about coaching offense.

But I guess not.

Simpletons blame the QB on a weekly basis. Especially after what happened yesterday. Sam is by far the least of our worries based on the season opener.

If some of you were rational, you'd be blaming the sad running game, poor pass blocking, weak receiver play and of course - extremely poor discipline/effort on defense.

We got dismantled in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Almost never can you win games when the trenches are a weakness.

As a former walk-on I have to say, this years team looks like they are in serious trouble. North Dakota State came in without intimidation and moped up. They critiqued their 1st quarter mistakes like a well coached team should. By the end of the third quarter, they played as if they should be in the Big 12. Iowa State looked scared. Literally disorganized and sloppy to the point it was shameful to watch.
I hope for three wins this season from an analytical perspective at most. But I don't know. When I played, we were bad as well but I don't remember being that sloppy out on the field with blown blocking schemes and a quarterback scrambling for his life.

When did you play? Because I have been attending games since 1994 and have seen many similar games in my life.
