***Offical NBA Regular Season Thread***

NOTE OF THE DAY
The 2014 playoffs will be the first in NBA history without the Lakers, Celtics and Knicks.

So if Indy wins vs OKC they get the #1 seed?

Only if the Heat lose at Washington on Monday night. That would give the Pacers a one game lead with one to go. If Miami wins out (at Washington tomorrow, home for the Sixers Wednesday), the Pacers have to do the same (home for OKC today, @ Orlando Wednesday night). Miami has an easier road to the #1 seed but neither team is playing very well right now.

The race for the last spot in the West is really fun to watch.

The Mavericks clinched the 7th with a 3 point win over the Suns.

Memphis is currently one game above the Suns, and have 3 games in hand. The Suns need to win out, and have the grizzlies lose 2 out of their final 3 games because Memphis owns the tiebreaker against them.

Hornacek can still get into the playoffs, but it is going to be tough.

I don't know the head to head records, but I would guess the Spurs would much rather see PHX as the eight seed instead of the Grizzlies.

If the Bulls finish 3rd and Miami finishes 2nd as it is today, the road is much tougher for Miami. Bulls then Indy without home court is such an easier path than two teams they'll probably crush and Indy with home court. I don't think any other teams in the East will test them and I'm not even confident the Bulls or Pacers could take them to a game 6.

I should be surprised if Miami did not win over Indy. So Bulls will probably play Indy. The doctor ordered Miami to play the Philly team.....

I basically view it as whether the East can tire out Miami before the finals. If it's a 2/3 Indy/Bulls finish all with home court advantage I think they just cruise and rest up…which in turn makes them a bigger favorite against the West.

There's a lot riding on D-Wade's sore hammy, too. If he aggravates that injury or it limits him in the postseason, then the Heat are a slightly better version of the Lebron era Cavs.

DWade was on my fantasy team, and he was not dependable to go two solid weeks basically the whole year. Heat are weaker this year than in past three years. I could see LeBron moving on.

Pacers beat the Thunder. Please let them beat Orlando. That would be so disappointing to lose the 1 seed on the final day.

I think Indy owns tiebreaker

Since they both won their Divisions, first tie breakers is head to head, which they split (2-2). Next tie breaker is division record. If Miami can beat Washington on the road tomorrow, Miami would win this tiebreaker. If Miami loses, its goes to the next tie breaker which is conference record, and Indiana would win that.

Bulls the 3 seed right now. Easier first round foe in the Wizards than Brooklyn.

Yeah will be interesting to watch. Toronto owns the tie breakers over Chicago, so Chicago almost needs to win out. Would be cool going into the playoffs on a 10 game win streak.

This tiebreaker is only used if teams are in the same division. As Miami is in the Southeast and Indiana in the Central it falls to the next tiebreaker, conference record. Indiana is 37-14 in conference, Miami is 34-16. So Indiana has the tiebreaker locked up.

Yep you're right. Didn't read the whole procedure.

If chicago wins out they would get to 50 wins. To do that without Rose for pretty much the whole season then trading Deng halfway through shows how damn good of a coach Thibs is.
