***Offical NBA Regular Season Thread***

Most winning individual of the past 25 years teaming up with most underachieving franchise of the past 25 years.

Something's gotta give.

I've laughed year after year after year when the media always acts as if the Knicks (and Nets) are going to surge into relevance, but now part of me will wonder if just maybe they're right when they do that every season.

We'll see how this plays out. I know that Jackson has won in the NBA as a player and coach, but an executive job is a whole other animal. I'm not sure if he'll want to grind it out scouting talent and churning the bottom of the roster. That, and he works for maybe the worst team owner in all of professional sports. My gut feeling is that this has disaster written all over it, but you can't discount a guy who owns thirteen championship rings.

I think Jackson's job will come down to hiring the right people to run the day to day and running interference on Dolan so the smart basketball people can actually do their job. In that sense, he's a good hire because he'll have as much stature as anyone to be able to tell an owner to keep their nose out of operations.

Got to take in the Bulls-Thunder game on Monday night. Very cool experience, especially for my first NBA game. Not much of a fan of either team, so it was cool to watch it just as a fan. Especially cool to watch KD go off for 35 points in person!

The Bulls are surging. I don't know if they can ratchet up their intensity any higher once the playoffs start, but Thibs has put himself in contention for Coach of the Year.

The slumping Pacers have a huge game tomorrow with the Heat coming to town. Right now they have a two game edge on Miami for the #1 seed in the East, but they better find a way to snap out of their funk soon.

And the Spurs just keep on winning. They are on a mission now.

Vintage Spurs. They're playing their best basketball going into the postseason. Pop and KC Buford are providing the blueprint for how to extend a superstar's career while staying competitive. The catch is you have to find a superstar like Tim Duncan who doesn't mind taking a step back on the offensive side of the ball.

Bulls finally moved past Toronto into 3rd place.

I can't even decide if I want them to be in the 4 seed spot or 3 seed spot. A Miami fan would definitely want Ind/Chi in the 1/4 or 2/3 matchup together. They have little chance to beat Miami or Indy, but I think they'd handle just about anybody 5-8 with home court. Basically whoever can dodge Chicago between Miami and Indianapolis avoids a slugfest series the other doesn't have to go through, a series they'd win, but a slugfest.

Pacers and Heat going down to the wire. Playoff intensity...lots of hard fouls on both sides and Lance Stephenson got ejected for being a dumb ****.

Stevenson is a moron. Probably going to cost them this game.

That's life with Lance Stephenson. Dumb stuff like he pulled tonight won't change indy's mind about signing him long term but it might make them really give it some thought. Evan Turner might bail him out. Giving the Pacers a jolt right when they badly needed one.

Pacers survive. If your Miami lebron has to take that last shot. Just another reason he isn't mj.

The Pacers were going to make it tough for Lebron to get a shot off there, so I didn't mind the play drawn up for Bosh. The problem with it is that he takes forever and a day to set up and shoot. He had room and a clear look, he just took too long and Hibbert was able to close out on him and alter the shot.

that was a playoff game, and it did not disappoint!
So the race for home court advantage is interesting, but there is another race that seems really interesting to me.

The Bobcats own the Pistons 2014 draft pick (Top 8 protected). Currently the Pistons are 8th in the draft, but Cleveland and the Knicks could take the position away. If the Pistons improve to 9th, the Bobcats get a lottery pick while making the playoffs. Will be interesting to watch.

Also, there are a lot of lottery trades that took place over the years and now they are all coming home to roost.

The big ones in my opinon are:

1. The Hawks have the rights to swap 2014 first round picks with the Nets, but I doubt this will happen now that the Nets have turned around their season

2. Bobcats receiving the Pistons 2014 First round pick (Top 8 protected) -Bobcats may or may not get the pick

3. Bulls receive Bobcats 2014 First round pick (Top 10 protected) - Bulls will get this pick (#16)

4. Nuggets receive the Knicks 2014 First round pick - This is huge for the Nuggets and incredibly debilitating for the Knicks (#10)

5. Orlando receives the lower pick of the Nuggets picks (Either Knicks or Nuggets pick) - #12

6. The Suns could potentially have 4 first round picks (own the Minnesota pick (top 13 protected), own the Pacers, and Wizards and their own.) Currently will receive their own, Pacers and Wizards picks. #14, #17, #28 (The Suns will use this for trade bait)

7. Jazz get the Warriors first round pick, along with their own lottery pick. #23

Pacers get blown out by Cleveland. Tied with Miami in loss column but have played 2 more games than Miami. Miami 10 games left with toughest test being playoff team brooklyn, toronto, memphis who is battling for a playoff spot as well as Indy.

Indy with 8 games left. In addition to game with Miami they also play toronto, San antonio, and OKC. Miami just may steal home court in the east.

Spurs kill Pacers, Miami beats Raptors and takes possession of 1st place. what a tank job by the pacers.
