Harold Nichols open

I don't remember anyone touting Terikuna much at all. I think some of us where impressed with how he performed (in terms of fight, not wins) when forced into the lineup as a true frosh. My guess is you feel this way, too.

Other than that, the only guy that's really talked him up is the guy from HI (old wrestler dude was his handle, or something similar). And for some reason, I don't want to crap on his optimism.

There have been several mentions of him having a chance to start, would be solid/.500, chance to qualify for the NCAAs, etc.

Thinking a guy has a chance to start and hoping they can be a .500 wrestler. Truly talking them up. Well, he's 2-3 right now and is battling for the starting spot at 141. So I'd say he has a chance to start and might be about .500 for us.

Why do you even post? All you do is **** on the team and troll with rumors that you overhear from Iowa fans.

When he barely finishes .500 against a mix of D2/D3/NAIA starters and backups it makes it a reach.

BTW, I'm very excited about Lazard and think everyone who is scared of him going elsewhere is a ninny. He's coming to ISU and he's going to be good within a year or two. What you fail to mention in your cute little copy/paste job was the context of many thinking superstardom the minute he steps on campus.

Keep trolling, Judoka. Your attempts to make this a sunshine & rainbows cheerleading board are beyond annoying. Sorry you don't like having a ying to your yang.

While I agree with this, to his credit without his commentary no one else would be talking about ISU wrestling. Does automatically thinks everyone is a troll tho.

Agreed. I like the commentary but could do without the attacks.

Shayden is 2-3. You are right. But he hasn't wrestled any D-III or NAIA guys. He did wrestle one D-II guy, and he lost. Sounds horrible, right? But wait a second. Maybe we should see who he lost to. You are choosing to ignore the fact that said D-II wrestler is ranked #2 in D-II and beat Goettl 7-2 last season.

And the D-I wrestlers he's lost to? The #5 ranked guy in the country and a pretty decent kid from Drexel. Both guys who are figuring to be much better than .500 wrestlers.

Is Shayden (Or little Moreno) going to AA this year? No, of course not. But they have shown nothing to indicate that they won't be decent wrestlers that would end up at about .500 for us this year. And personally I see a lot more upside from that than downside. Do I expect one of them to qualify for NCAAs? No, at this point I don't see that as being likely. But do I think that it is possible? Yes. I think that it is.

Hope we can at least get brackets this year as there was none available last year. IMO it isn't a ran very well

AC-
I would love to hear why you think it isn't ran very well. I am not commenting about the marketing side of things but the tournament as a whole. What would you like to see better if it is ran so poorly. Here are a few things to consider there were over 300 wrestlers the tournament started on time and was completed by 6:30 pm. No wrestlers from the same team met prior to at least the quarterfinals and in most cases not until the semi's if they both made it that far. There were no breaks and wrestling took place on all 8 mats for 99% of the day except in the final rounds when it was a matter of getting kids a few minutes rest between matches. Brackets can't be printed beforehand because you have no idea the number of changes that take place the day of the tournament from scratches to kids moving up a weight class etc. There were brackets posted on the upper bowl area to look at. I believe the admission to get in was free so making a copy for every fan isn't ideal but maybe that is something they can look at doing in the future. As far as using track not I understand everyone doesn't know all the ins and outs but tracks server was slow that day and was not cooperating when there was an individual inputting the results in their system. (had we used this system only it may have been a much longer day) There were several compliments about how well run the tournament was so I am not sure what else you would like to see improved with regards to "running the tournament."

That D-2 wrestler might be highly ranked but he also failed to place in the tourney. You left that out. But, that said, I was referencing last season.
2012-13
Redshirted sophomore campaign… posted an 8-6 record while competing unattached... went 3-2 at the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open… went 3-2 at the UNI Open … finished 2-2 at the Grand View Open

HN: Good loss to DeShazer, who won the D-2 title. Handled easily by Thomas who went 0-2 at the NCAAs last year. (Not a terrible loss)
UNI: Loss to Illinois backup, pinned by Upper Iowa wrestler who didn't qualify for nationals
GV: Loss to true frosh backup from GV who didn't qualify for state in Iowa the prior season, loss to true frosh from Missouri who also did not place in tournament.

That's the resume of a guy who would go .500, with our schedule? Perhaps with more time in the room.
