I hope at some point in the future he could be on our staff or possibly the the next Cyclone head coach in football what are your thoughts? fellow cyclone friends?

OC not HC. That's my opinion. I still think we have the right HC from a player perspective. They love to play hard for him and that is important. He just needs better coaches around him and I do understand that is on him too.

I agree coach Rhoads is still are guy some shakeup needs to occur with our staff in the off season! I really don't think Bill Bliel has done a great job either.

Why does everyone think a mediocre NFL quarterback is going to come in and solve our OC problems. I love Sage, but he has not coached anything yet. This is no where near a Hoiberg hire. Not even comparable. Needs to work his way up the ranks.

If Sage is interested, I would love to have him as a qb coach that could one day move to OC or head coach if he is cutout for it. Let's face it, ISU is only going to be able to hold on to a good coach if they love Ames or Iowa in General. That is reality and if an alum has promise as a coach, one would have to be dumb not to take advantage.

Sage is a very smart man and has been around football for a long time. I won't be upset if Rhoads gives him an opportunity at OC.

If Rhoads gets a mulligan with his OC, why would we want him to gamble on an unknown? If it doesn't work, it likely means the end of his HC career at ISU.

I'm all for keeping Sage close to the program, and possibly bringing him on to coach QBs. But I can't say I'm fired up about taking a gamble when the decision would likely determine the future of the program over the next several years.

If Sage was the next Fred, great. But, do we know if Sage can coach?

Did we know Fred could coach?

But seriously, I am not behind this. Maybe as a QB coach, but as others have stated, I think at ISU the OC takes care of that.

Of course we didn't know how good Fred would be. But he did go beyond the jock phase of his sport.

Sad to say but Chiz had a better OC than CPR right now.

It worked for our basketball team, didn't it? (Okay, mediocre might be a little bit of a stretch, but outside of Iowa State, Minnesota, Chicago, and Indiana, most aren't going to remember his playing career)

I like Sage and think he could add some value to the staff but what troubles me is a good friend of mine here in Omaha is good friends with him and he told me that Sage has been saying not so good things about CPR and his relationships with the players. I was shocked as I have absolutely never heard anything remotely close to this from any other source. I trust my source and it is disappointing if Sage is making those comments.

At this point I'm just hoping the next HC, whenever that is, comes from an offensive background. The other alternative hasn't worked out that great for us.

I would think Austin Flynn would be hired before Rosenfels considering Flynn actually has coaching experience.
