You want to change the landscape, go donate T Boone Pickens money so they can upgrade everything to that level, pay some players to come up for a few years and pray you don't get caught.
The unrealistic nature of these posts boggles my mind. I would like to see a strong program come out of this, but I understand that as long as ISU gets better players year after year, it's bound to happen. Patience or go do something about it.
And yet we're still dead last on offense in the B12 and nearly last for all of FBS. Never been close to a winning record in conference.
Hell they should have lost to Akron.Yes we shouldn't lose to uni, but Michigan should never lose to Appalachian st. Either. Or the purple kitties to ndsu.
No one can win in a low population, talent, and terrible climate. Signed, Boise state.
Stop posting stupid crap. 9 wins last year, 8 the year before, a 5 win season before that, and 13 wins and a national title appearance in 2009. There is only one"Rhoadsesque" season there. Guess which one it is?
Could Mack Brown do more? Sure. Is he doing less than Paul Rhoads? Look at the wins, and stop being dumb.
Before I see the next thread complaining about our football recruiting, thought I might offer up a snapshot of where we are and have been....
While I would love see four star talent come into Ames, I don't think it's the main problem. Each of these classes were better than UNI's and they still beat us handily at home.
It is only the third time Rhoads lost a game he was favored to win. So don't act like he is an under-achiever.
Weird, ESPN seems to think recruiting is trending up
Big 12 2013 recruiting class rankings analysis for Sept. 18 - ESPN
I get people are tired of losing, and I don't think Messingham is the guy to change that. I just don't get the knock on recruiting. It seems to me we are getting a lot more guys with BCS offers than we have in the past.
I agree we are recruiting a lot better than the past. The only problem I see is if we get ZERO wins or ONE win then that recruiting momentum will come to an immediate halt. The difference with the bumps in the road that other teams have like a KSU and Iowa is they don't drop down to the 0,1,2 win levels. Thats my main concern with this year.
"Never" is an AWFULLY long time. No, not that we shouldn't try. That we shouldn't ***** about it. It is getting better. But it will never be great.
"Never" is an AWFULLY long time.
By strange coincidence, I've been following football recruiting for an "awfully long time".
This statement simply isn't true. See the likes of Northwestern, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss--which had a ludicrous recruiting class last season. Shoot, even Indiana has put up some nice results.
