Other than the Pistons (who had one guy who had a weakness on either side of the ball which was Wallace on offense) I can't think of a team that hasn't had at least two of the top 5 players at their position who won a Championship. Bottom line: talent usually comes out on top. MJ had it around him, Kobe had it around him and LeBron has it around him. Remove that surrounding talent from even the best of the best and results shrink to, at best getting to the Finals (LJ), getting to the conference championship (MJ), or even missing the playoffs. Phil Jackson is considered one of, if not the best ever but he's not getting Orlando to the playoffs and he's not getting Atlanta a ring. I know Phil is a great coach but he's picked his spots and deservedly so. It takes an awful coach not to at least get to the Championship with the Heat roster or something like it.

I used to be on the Phil train about easy to win with superstars, but see for example Lakers coaches not named Phil Jackson struggle despite having a load of talent has changed my mind on this.

Kevin Martin's not off to a good start in these playoffs. If he doesn't start to step it up, there's going to be a lot of second guessing of the move to trade Harden a year early. Watching Harden get to the line 20 times last night, while Martin floats around the perimeter has to make Thunder fans nervous.

That's not the half of it. Harden could at least pretend to play defense when he was with OKC. OKC will find it increasingly harder to hide Martin on defense as they progress in these playoffs.

Ehh he may have pretended but he still killed OKC's defense whenever he was on the floor, of course you could live with Harden's poor D when he was taking over games on the other end. It's a lot harder to live with Martin's D when he's shooting 35% and not getting to the line. I think Reggie Jackson has the potential to be a big time bench scorer but don't think he's there yet.

You are mis-remembering that series. It was the fact that Harden disappeared more than anything else. (If you are blaming the Thunder for losing)

So, did you watch the Heat Thunder series? No way I blame Westbrook for losing.

Westbrook averaged 27 points, 6.6 assists, 6.4 rebounds, 2.2 turnovers per game in the finals last year.

he also missed some clutch shots and didn't get Durant the ball enough.

If you are gonna talk **** about LeBron losing to the Mavericks,as all bulls fans love to do to make themselves feel better, it's the same thing.

Also, the Clippers have looked better than the Thunder through two games. Maybe some of you should back off your "No way the Clippers compete with OKC" thoughts.

I would just like to point out that the Pacers have the most efficient offense so far in the playoffs.

Troll bait set.

Pacers look like the second best team from the East so far. Can see them sweeping. If they had Granger, the Heat-Pacers series would be a really good one.

it's fun watching Bulls fans squirm. Especially ones thinking Spoelstra is the key to the Heat rather than LJ and DW.

Why do you think everyone is a Bulls fan? I don't really have an NBA team although I'm much more of a Heat fan than any other team. And please link to any post saying Spoelstra was more important to the Heat than LeBron? TIA.

Agreed, if OKC had a better coach I would be much more confident in their chances against Vinny Del Negro and the Clips.

Probably where you said there were only 3 or 4 better active coaches in the NBA.

Link? I said Thibs is in the second tier behind Pop and Carlisle with 5 or 6 other guys, any knowledgeable NBA fan would agree with that.

true, i'm sure Spoelstra would have taken over the Thunder and lead them to the finals a couple years later. lol

Yes...only a couple coaches better than Spo because you put Spo in that group of the second tier with other more accomplished coaches who have non-all star team coaching experience. I'm not going to give you a link to what you said a few pages back, put on your big boy pants and look up your own post.

Spoelstra is more accomplished than Thibs, or Karl, or Vogel, or Adelman, who I previously forgot. Based on his accomplishments, he should actually be higher. Thinking Spoelstra is in the second tier of coaches is again a comepletely reasonable statement, and one most NBA fans would agree with. I'm not taking any extreme point of views here.

lol. I can't believe I read that

Again, I realize you're arguing just to argue, but I assure you Spoelstra is regarded as one of the top coaches in the league, I'm not just throwing out some crazy statement here.

Let's not have this turn into another two month argument, like last year when you claimed Durant should have been MVP over LeBron, that one didn't end so well for you and this one isn't going to either brah.
