We didn't lose because of the missed block/charge call

You don't lose a game because of one play. We still were up by 1 pt at that point in the game. I would blame the loss more on the turnover with a minute left and the missed rebound with 29 seconds left.

Did the refs miss the block on Craft. Yes.
Was it a bad call. Yes
Was it a close call. Yes
Was it the reason we lost the game. NO!

Yes it is the reason we lost!! It just makes me feel better believing that. Just proves it is a national conspiracy.

Fred's play draw ups at the end of halves/games for the most part have been terrible this season. He's ridiculously awesome for 38 minutes. The last minute of each half on the other hand....

For example, the drawup for the last play of the game today? Hey! Let's throw Lucious the ball 75 feet away from the hoop and hope he can turn around and throw it far enough without getting blocked! That was absolutely awful.

So what brilliant play would you have called for us to run with .5 seconds on the clock that would have given us a shot?

We lost the game because of fans like you...if you are for real.....and the fact you do not understand basketball or the political element with referees and fan bases. We lost the game because of nallen34 and all the other medocrity-accepting, bobbing head clappers. That call was the game. That call did not happen in the first half. With your twisted non-logic, Iowa State lost the game because of the first two shots they missed in the first half because that was 4 points and we lost by 3. ?!?!?!?!? Do you get it at all???? With less than a minute and a referee decides to do what they did....it is no accident. They were NOT going to give us any call that endangered their career. I don't know what else to say....except GFY if you do not see this.

We all should have seen enough games to know that the 4 point lead still wasn't a guarantee. That would be fair to say. But those are points we should have had (and I'm assuming that Will makes the FT-also no guarantee).

It still may have ended as a loss, maybe even on that shot, but we should have had the points.

There was so much that went on in that game to blame it on one call. First of all, it was a very hard call to make. His foot was "over" the restricted line, and although he slid over while Clyburn was in the air he appeared set. Certainly with the benefit of replay we can say with certainty it was the wrong call, but at full speed it was certainly close.

Second, there are a million things we could have done better, and things that we got lucky they didn't do so well. We missed a bunch of bunnies in the first half. We got it to within 1 and then gave up a 10-0 run. We had other mistakes in the end of the game. At the end of the day, you just have to take it for what it was-- a great game. We have come so far and are certainly on the upswing.

Great year.

Looks like someone lost some money.

Oh geez, one of these guys. Well, let's put it this way. I'd like to see a statistician's analysis of what our chances of winning that game are if we get the bucket and free throw at that point, versus our chances of winning with the bucket wiped off the board. I bet the swing there is huge.

Yes, it was not like the botched call in the KU game that literally decided the outcome. We still had other chances. But it was a critical botched call in just about the most critical point in the game. It was enormously impactful.

You have to be kidding. There is no good play you can run with .5 seconds left going full court. The game was over as soon as that shot went in. To criticize Fred for that play is just stupid

Again, OSU scored the last 4 points of the game after the call.

No, but you can't argue it had a tremendous outcome on the game. Being up 4 vs 1 with 1:30 to go is night and day difference.

I hate when people say well they missed a call in the 1st half too. You have to understand as the calls are made later and later into the game, the more impact and weight they have. In our case, it only left us with 1 possession to compensate for it.

It is possible that things may have been different if we get the call and go up four, our guys are pumped and thinking they are on the edge of victory instead of having a deflating call go against them. Of course nobody will know for sure now.

It's impossible to know how the ending plays out if they get the call right, but it certainly affected the outcome, whether it cost us the game is just a guess. We could have still changed the outcome even after the blown call but we didn't.

And if ISU gets a bucket instead of turning the ball over after that, OSU is going for the tie and not the win. If ISU grabs that rebound at the end, they have the shot at the last shot. The call hurt, but ISU could of overcome it...

Exactly, the blown call swung the odds of winning the game away from us I think, but it was not out of reach by any stretch of the imagination.

Great post Clone32!

I agree, just saying that things likely wouldn't have gone the exact same way they did (who knows if OSU scores 4 pts or not) if the foul was called correctly.
