2013 Offensive Starters Predictions

In order of depth chart

QB - Rohach, Richardson, Barnett
RB- White, Wimberly, Woody (IF SJ is healthy, he goes ahead of White)
TE - Brun, Bibbs, Richardson
WR - Brundrage, West, Daley followed by Gary, Ecby, West
LT - ? we need someone to step up big
LG - Tuftee
C- Farniok
RG - Dika
RT - See LT

Everybody on here says they expect Wimberly getting a lot of carries. I dont see how that is possible. We all know the 3 RB's he used this season didnt get enough carries, how are we going to spread the carries around to 4 or 5 RB's. I think they should redshirt him, then the next year, he will be the starter.

He will get starter like carries because he will take them from one of the returners. What did you see this year that I did not? None of our current RBs deserve to be a starter in the Big 12. That is why you recruit Wimberly in the first place. He takes carries away from one of the returners, and someone transfers to UNI at the end of the year. I am fine with that, because production trumps hype, and we have seen alot of one and not so such the other.

Which of our RB's are so good that he couldn't come in and beat them out? I'm not predicting it, but we have depth at RB, but our talent is lacking. If Wimberly is the real deal, there's a shot he comes in and takes over a lot of carries

QB- Richardson, in my mind just from the position he's in now, the job is his to win or lose but I think we'll see JB and Rochach as well. I think Sam has a long ways to go but I love that he doesn't turn the ball over. Think of our record the last 2 years if we had his ball security.
RB- White, Wimberly, Woody, SJ- Shontrelle is left out because his last name doesn't start a W, but honestly he just isn't the same since his neck injury, he runs parralell to the LOS on almost every play. White and Wimberly are just as explosive and run downhill. IMO Nealy gets buried behind depth this year. I think eventually Wimberly will get the load of the carries
WR- Bundrage, Gary, White and then ? I think the competition here will be really interesting but will get overshadowed by the QB battle. We've brought in sevearal young WR's the last 2 years that have talent. Will we see a couple of them develop?
TE- Ernie Brun
Oline- I think the tackle spots are up for grabs, the interior will look like last year

I feel the same way, I've saw every IWCC home game this year and IMO he brings an extra element our other guys don't. Other than Woody, who gives us any yards after contact? Who breaks big plays? Last year I would have said we didn't have room for him but I think RB's as a group took a step back last year, maybe that's due to oline play or QB play or whatever but I wouldn't expect those things to change drastically over night so we need a guy who can create on his own.

We do not know what we have in Winmberly. He has not taken a snap for us yet. Whether he is better than one or all of our backs, is up in the air. He has proven nothing yet. I think he should redshirt, develop and adapt to the Big XII, then the next year he could be the real deal.

QB-Richardson, Rohach, Barnett (finds his purpose and becomes a great leader and coach for the young guys.)
RB-White, Johnson, Wimberly (lining up all over the field), Woody (the bulldozer but used more often), Nealy, Standard
WR 1st string- Bundrage, Gary, J. West
2nd string- aley, Q. West, Harris
TE- Brun, Bibbs, Richardson (Hopefully with a lot of two tight end sets, or at least both Brun and Bibbs in the game at once.)

Need to factor Rob Standard into the mix.

And it would be nice to have someone to back up Woody at FB.

Our running backs certainly under achieved this season. I think a lot of that is an o-line problem, but I also think some of that is a running back problem that includes both a lack of an ability to break out big plays and a lack of ability to see the holes open up. We do not know what we have in Wimberly, but IMO he will certainly be competing with White and Shontrelle early and often.

Rhoads said Standard is better at running between the tackles, which we struggled at this year. Partly, not completely, because of poor O-line play. Assuming he sticks around (I have no reason to believe he won't besides that he is in the gutter at a loaded position group) I hope we see some of him with the 1st team next season.

QB: Sam Richardson definitely in the leader's seat. Will be pushed by Barnett & Rohach in that order.

I agree with another poster on the OL:
C= Farniok, G= Tuftee, G= D Williams, T= Lichtenberg, T= Gannon
Wildcards on the OL: @ G= Omoile, maybe Burton? Think Dagel & Lalk are 1 year away so depth @ T is big ?

RBs: White, S Johnson, Woody, Nealy & Standard
Wildcard: Wimberly. Does he come in for immediate impact? Do we redshirt? I think we need better OL play, better designed & executed runs, & more commitment to the run.

WR: Gary, J West, Bundrage, then ?
Wildcards: Ecby, Daley, Harris, Q West. Regardless, need to produce better (catching damn ball, blocking damn defenders, just better play overall)

TE: Brun, Richardson, & Bibbs. Seeings as we have 2 returning 1 was productive as a pass-catcher (but lacked in blocking - Brun), I see no reason why Bibbs will not have a shot to play right away in some capacity. 2 TEs out there would be great, IMO (whether lined up as true TE, out-wise, or in backfield as FB).

Here is what I want from all WRs: fight for position and the ball. We have too many guys who are immediately looking for the interference call every time they get touched. They are making the flag-throwing motion before the plays are even over, but aren't making enough hard efforts to get into position and make the catch.

Other guys just let the ball go past them and go back to the huddle like it is practice where they can line up and get another one thrown to them. I would like to see more guys going for the ball like it is the last one that will ever be thrown to them.

IIRCC, Bo Williams got the same level of hype as AW.
Contrary to popular belief on this board, you do not recruit a JUCO to sit the bench. You recruit them to immediately impact the team. Tyler Brown will RS next year. Based on what I saw this year from our RBs, if Wimberly is not 1 or 2 at the beginning of the season and starting by mid way through, we will have another pedestrian running game on our hands.

I am not saying he is better, but his film is good, and if he isn't, that is not a sign of impending success for our running game.

For those of you picking Rohach as the starter, what is that based on?

Him being the best Qb on the roster. Even a lot of the players parents believe he will be the starter, and I would assume they get that info from their children that are on the team. Granted, that was before Sam Richardson started playing...

Bottom line is James White is the top RB. Woodie is the GL back. First and foremost we need to find a way to get White more carries and to move the sticks more. The other RB's will get carries too, but we need to figure out how to get our best RB more carries first before we worry about his backups.

Wimberly redshirting will depend on SJ's health, and Nealys development.

I may be wrong but I thought Rhoads said Wimberly would contribute immediately. This would imply that he will not redshirt.
