2013 Offensive Starters Predictions

I may be wrong but I thought Rhoads said Wimberly would contribute immediately. This would imply that he will not redshirt.

He did. Rhoads recruited Wimberly to compete immediately. That should tell most on here what he think of the ceiling of the current RB stable. Like I said, I think we need Wimberly to start or we will be reliant on the passing game, and we all know how well that works.

Do you think jake campos will redshirt or is PR going to redshirt this entire class too

Campos will Redshirt & no, the entire class will not. Bibbs & Wimberly will play, & Meeks may be able to see some PT. He enrolled for this coming semester (I believe). May follow the lines of Knott/Klein - play special teams.
Although, now that I think about Meeks, he did have a lower leg injury (broken, if I am not mistaken), so who knows if enrolling early will help him get ahead of the curve. Still confident Wimberly & Bibbs would get opportunity to play immediately.

I agree. I truly believe Rhoads is hoping that Wimberly can come in here next year and either start or split carries with James White.

I'm not sold at all on Shontrelle Johnson. He's had a few decent games, but James White is the better all-around back by far IMO. James White gets you everything that is available on the play for the most part. Shontrelle does not IMO.

Everyone always claims that we have this awesome stable of RBs, but I'm not so sure Rhoads agrees with that. Yes, we have some depth there, but we don't have a standout RB at all. In other words, I'm not sure any of our RBs would start at any other Big 12 schools?

Everybody on here says they expect Wimberly getting a lot of carries. I dont see how that is possible. We all know the 3 RB's he used this season didnt get enough carries, how are we going to spread the carries around to 4 or 5 RB's. I think they should redshirt him, then the next year, he will be the starter.

He will if he is the best we have, which is very very possible.

He needs to be the best we have. Our running game needs a playmaker so our qb doesn't end up being our leading rusher in so many games.

Im not disagreeing with you that he needs to be the best, but blaming the lake of a running game on our RB's is ridiculous. A lot of games we do get a running game going, then our OC starts to get pass happy. Or, the other case is usually we have a line that cant block to save their lives.
Do we need better running backs? Yes. Do we have capable backs? Yes. Do we blame the running game solely on the RB's? No.

Well lets take a look:

QB: SR gets the edge, but Jared if he gets more accurate is in contention. Rohach hasn't even played a down in the offense. At least Sam had run the ball against WIU... so if SR doesn't perform well I think we have a OC change and SR, JB, and GR all play in 1 game to see who plays the best.

RB: I thought we'd be in at least the top 3 in rushing (Big 12). Obviously the Big 12 had some good rushing teams this year (Baylor, Okie State, Kansas, K-State, WVU) but I thought we'd use Woody a little more (another MESS-ingham problem) So from what I've watched in the last year, James White "starts", with the way Mess runs things, Nealy/Standard/Wimberley at 2, and Jeff Woody at 3, and the losers of the 2 spot at 4/5. A lot of depth, not much to show for it. Idk how serious SJ injury is, wasn't on crutches so I didn't put him in.

WR: I'm not sure how this will pan out. JWest, QB, AG?

OL: Same as all of you. Who knows, Campos may be needed.

TE: Brun and Bibbs? Scary.

O-line definitely gets part of the blame in some of our games and I've also been wondering why Woody has got so few carries since he's been healthy the last chunk of the season, especially in less than perfect field conditions like our last couple of games. But overall I think Shontrelle and James are slightly below average front line Big 12 backs. I don't think we've seen enough of Neely and Standard to know what they can be, but I think Neely has more potential. I think CPR wants a balanced attack and I think Sam can be great if we have a good running game to go with him, and I'm sure hoping Wimberly can add some juice to this offense. It may take some changes or shuffling in the offensive staff, that's up to CPR to evaluate.

There is no question that White and Johnson are below average number ones. They aren't even average. We have the worst RBs in the Big 12. Lets list what the other teams start at RB.

UT: Jonathan Gray(scary good)
OSU: Joseph Randle(Best in the Big 12)
OU: Brennan Clay(far ahead of what we put out there, and when its Damien Williams it is the same case)
Baylor: Lache Seastrunk( a super talent, that with a head on straight looks as scary as he did in his HS film)
TCU:BJ Catalon(another true freshman who is a great recruit. Dozen offers, but probably the only debateable RB)
KSU: John Hubert(Almost 1000 yards despite sharing with Klein. Good)
TTU: Kenny Williams(They were just like us, until Williams took over. )
WVU: Tavon Austin(Look at what he did to us)
KU: James Sims(We wanted him, Kansas got him. Wish we had him)

The Big 12 is not a running conference, and none of our backs would sniff playing time anywhere else. And next year Aaron Greene comes to play for TCU, and they get even stronger at the position.

Our guys are not below average. We are the worst in conference.

Oline- I think the tackle spots are up for grabs, the interior will look like last year
No way CPR puts Lichtenberg and Gannon back at RG. Not only because it's not their best position, but they're needed outside, since CPR didn't land Harrison or Finnin.

For those of you talking about Duaron Williams, CPR mentioned late in the season that he might need his knee scoped again after the season. So, add that thought to Dika's recovery...I'd love to see either of them fully healthy and grabbing that spot.

Dika had the ebst film of anyone in his line class. I would love to see him take a guard spot.

We have gotten some good line recruits lately that appear broken. Pompey and Williams having issues really hurts us on both sides. Hope Devlyn Cousin is ready to play.

Devlyn cousin was big enough coming into the season, he's a big guy. Wouldn't be surprised to see him

CPR said that Devlyn was down to 270 late in the season. Part of the natural process of building a Big XII body--but I wouldn't count on how "big" he is next Fall.

QB: Sam Richardson, Grant Rohach, Jared Barnett(I think it is still Richardson job to lose. I didn't like Rohach High School tape he took to many risky throws that would be intercepted in the Big 12)

RB:James White, Aaron Wimberly(I think and hope as the season goes on Wimberly will see more and more snaps and possibly become our #1), Shontrelle Johnson, Devondrick Nealy, Jeff Woody(woody will probably be underused again like he was this season)

1st String WRs: Quenton Bundrage, Jarvis West(Bundrage and west need to be more productive or we will looking to the TEs alot next season),Albert Gary
2nd String WRs:Quan West,Tad Ecby, P.J. Harris, Dondre Dealy

TE:Ernst Brun, Emmanuel Bibbs, Peirce Richardson(Brun and Bibbs are going to be exciting to watch, could be the QBs favorite targets)
