O-line definitely gets part of the blame in some of our games and I've also been wondering why Woody has got so few carries since he's been healthy the last chunk of the season, especially in less than perfect field conditions like our last couple of games. But overall I think Shontrelle and James are slightly below average front line Big 12 backs. I don't think we've seen enough of Neely and Standard to know what they can be, but I think Neely has more potential. I think CPR wants a balanced attack and I think Sam can be great if we have a good running game to go with him, and I'm sure hoping Wimberly can add some juice to this offense. It may take some changes or shuffling in the offensive staff, that's up to CPR to evaluate.
There is no question that White and Johnson are below average number ones. They aren't even average. We have the worst RBs in the Big 12. Lets list what the other teams start at RB.
UT: Jonathan Gray(scary good)
OSU: Joseph Randle(Best in the Big 12)
OU: Brennan Clay(far ahead of what we put out there, and when its Damien Williams it is the same case)
Baylor: Lache Seastrunk( a super talent, that with a head on straight looks as scary as he did in his HS film)
TCU:BJ Catalon(another true freshman who is a great recruit. Dozen offers, but probably the only debateable RB)
KSU: John Hubert(Almost 1000 yards despite sharing with Klein. Good)
TTU: Kenny Williams(They were just like us, until Williams took over. )
WVU: Tavon Austin(Look at what he did to us)
KU: James Sims(We wanted him, Kansas got him. Wish we had him)
The Big 12 is not a running conference, and none of our backs would sniff playing time anywhere else. And next year Aaron Greene comes to play for TCU, and they get even stronger at the position.
Our guys are not below average. We are the worst in conference.
