Royce White headed to D-league??

can't watch this anymore. this just seems like he is setting them up to take them to court. embarassing

Yep and Royce is too dumb or self absorbed to realize he has no chance with a lawsuit against the Rockets.

Or like he's having a pretty hard breakdown, and is paranoid and feeling persecuted.

I think he is in need of a lot of help at this point.

I don't know what he thinks he can take them to court about. If the Rockets were in the wrong, or were violating his contract or something, I am sure we would have heard something from the NBPA, and we have not heard a peep out of them.

Thanks for your one year kid.....crazy kudos to hoiberg for keeping this ticking timebomb stable all year.

Do what you do Royce.....unfollowing him, and could care less about his NBA career.

Get out of the league, and get the help you need.

I still support him, but like Angie I think he is currently having a huge anxiety attack that he needs to get help for.

It's really scaring me at this point. I hope his personal therapist is aware of all of this.

Yes, and I think some people are expecting too much rationality from a guy diagnosed with mental illness.

I am not privy to the details, but from what I can infer the Rockets want him to use their Dr. and he wants to use his. If this is true I can't for the life of me understand why the Rockets wouldn't let him use his Dr., you know the one he knows and trusts, instead of making him use their Dr. that Royce doesn't know and doesn't trust.

It's interesting - I understand why the Rockets would want their own counselor to okay someone. It's sort of like having a psychiatrist for the state examine an accused criminal who is trying to use "not guilty by reason of insanity" as their defense.

That being said - I can't imagine another profession where it would be okay for your employer to have full access to your mental health counselor. That seems like a breech of trust.

We're seeing the "ill" part of mental illness now. So far we had see a guy who was beating illness and lifting ISU basketball back into a position of respectability. It was easy to be on Royce's side then. But what we've seen in hte last couple of days is the "other" side of mental illness. I think we should support him, and show some compassion. This isn't a thug, or a spoiled kid, or a prima donna, or an attention hog. This is just a young kid who needs a whole of support right now. And a young kid that has shown that he can produce magic with the right support.

I'm sure any counselor is governed by confidentiality rules. But I would presume Royce could waive part/all of that, or the Rockets could demand some minimal knowledge of his progress, as part of his contract. Given that he is public about it and they are making accommodations it's not unreasonable that a doctor could at least sign off on his progress or share some amount of information about Royce so that the Rockets can more easily work with him.

But that's grown-up, lawyer-and-agent stuff. We're witnessing either a breakdown or a stunning lack of professionalism on RW's part.

One more year in Ames, giving him an additional year of maturity might have helped. Okay - what I really wanted was one more year of watching RW tear up the BIG 12.

Royce White
@Highway_30 Guess I'm getting fined 15k again tomorrow, because Dr. PHINK can only do a phone call...and that's not a "sufficient" way to meet. #Rockets

calling out the doctor....:v_SPIN:

I think we have to remember that this is not exactly like other professions......this is professional sports. I think the team is granted approval of the doctors to avoid so-called "Dr. Feelgood" situations, plus it probably ensures that the teams are getting factual, concise information on the health of the athlete. We have to remember that these teams have a great deal invested in these athletes, and the athletes are protected with such things as guaranteed contracts. Keep in mind too, that whatever is in these contracts about such things, has been approved by the Player's associations on behalf of the players.

Royce wants the Rockets to play by the rules (which it seems they are) and he needs to realize that he needs to abide by them too. Whatever he is objecting to now should have been negotiated before he signed the contract. Protesting after the fact is not going to accomplish anything for him. I don't think Royce has anything against the Rocket's doctor......I just think he is pouting because he can't use his own.

Personally, with all I have read so far, I think this comes down to playing time. Royce thinks he should be getting more, and obviously the coaches and management do not agree. Royce cannot seem to accept that, but he needs to. This is not high school or college. He is not the top guy on the team any more. He is a rookie who has shown nothing at this level yet. It is time for him to grow up, get in shape, listen to his coaches, improve his game, and then get out there and prove what he can do.

Tweeting all day and openly criticizing your employer in public is an incredibly naive (and stupid) thing to do. Sure there will be some on Twitter who support you....but who signs your check? Who will have the most impact on your future? Plus, I am sure there are clauses in his contract about a player making such public comments. He needs to be careful......this is just the team fining him. Hopefully, the league will not get involved. Time to wise up Royce.
