Most of the ones I'm thinking about have been listed but I will add a couple that I don't think have been posted yet.

St. Anthony - great bar, not much else
Westphalia - you could almost include every town in western Shelby county.
Carnavon
Hamlin

My post earlier got buried about this too. If the town name appears in a school's name, its not nearly as small as a lot of place mentioned here.

I agree but there are some towns that are in the school name that are just tiny.

Some are Tennant, Kirkman, and Kimballton. All in their school names but not much more than 2-4 blocks wide.

As a self proclaimed "school aficianado" I can name each of those school districts. Big fan of HS athletics and one of my favorite things to do driving home from game Friday night games is to listen to all the postgame shows from around the state, and catch scores those scores.

One question though- Avo-Ha-Shelby-Tennant, What is the Ha?

It in itself could be added to the list as well.

I assume you mean Carnarvon near Carroll, which is a solid pick. There are a few others in that area including Mt. Carmel and Maple River. Also nearby are the tiniest of the tiny: Ulmer and Carrollton. Both are small enough Google Maps doesn't even recognize them. MapQuest does, however. Ulmer is like three farms and an elevator, Carrollton was probably nothing more than an extended family that broke free from the tyranny of Carroll.

Yep, but much closer to Lake View, only three miles south.

I was just about to post the same thing almost word for word. I have a buddy on the Poky fire department that took me through there the day after the tornado. Scary stuff.

Not much love for northwest Iowa. How about Harris, May City, Wallingford, Superior, Gillett Grove and Archer? Edna, IA is so small it has to share it's one horse...

No list of little spots in the road from that part of the state would be complete without the metropolis of Moneta.

Midville is another one that comes to mind...along Highway 69 between Ames and Huxley.

Otranto and Mona are great inclusions. I've participated in some drunken misadventures in both. Really, about any town in Mitchell County that isn't Osage or St. Ansgar belongs in this thread.

If you're drinking in McIntire, and really want that local flavor you gotta shoot for the Pit Stop. The Redman is a good time, but they've had some owner turnover over the years. Outside of a 1.5 year hiatus, the Pit Stop has had the same owner, and she's behind the bar almost every night. Gotta respect that.

The night before Thanksgiving, and Thanksgiving Day night are the biggest nights of the year there.

At various times, mvsta has both jumped and puked off of the bridge in Otranto. Just saying.

At 250, Grafton may be too big for inclusion here. Great town though, especially during Turkey Days.
