Bernstine over LJ?

Okay...

He held these receivers to:

Kendall Wright-68 yards
Marvin McNutt-61 yards
Mohamed Sanu-62 yards

I can't remember for sure but for some reason I was thinking Reeves was on McNutt a lot of the time. Perhaps that's wrong.

Anywho, you have two pretty good ones there and that is not being shut down especially when you consider the Rutgers QBs and Iowa's system. I don't mean to bash LJ but he was not Ellis Hobbs. Actually, since the NFL is looking at him like this, I am surprised he did what he did with a tremendous lack of pass rush to help him out.

Some of you are being ridiculous with the "Baylor couldn't throw on us", and "LJ shut down Justin Blackmon" statements. RGIII had 210 yds on only 30 throws. Blackmon had 100 yds on 10 catches, including one where he jumped right over LJ. LJ made some very nice plays on Blackmon 1-on-1 and I sure think he deserved to be drafted by the 6th round, but shutting down is going too far.

Another guy that dropped like a rock partially because of his 40-time was Vontaze Burfict. He was considered a 1st round talent last year, but has some character issues and ran a 5.0 40. Brings me to another question, and I don't want to imply anything, but do they always announce which players test positive for drugs?

LJ's 40 time is suspect, but speed is not the only thing people should be looking at. Not every WR in the NFL has 4.4 40 speed. You need it, but still there are guys in history who were slow as hell and still did well.

A guy named Jerry Rice was one of them. Yeah, not a CB..but there's more to playing in that area than pure speed. LJ might be slow for a CB, but he can make up for it in other areas.

But let's also not forget, that anybody can become faster in the matter of a few months..especially with the help of an NFL trainer.

I'm guessing there just isn't much of an NFL market for 5'8 corners who run slower 40's than most defensive ends.

"Shut down" is probably a little bit strong, since he very nearly got to his average of 117 ypg and 12.6 ypc, but he did only have 2 catches of more than 8 yards on a night when his QB completed 42 passes for 476 yards.

Oh I see where you're coming from now. Regardless he was drafted based upon his work at safety.

Which wasn't that great. I really don't get how Prater and Bernstine get picked and LJ doesn't. I'm sure he'll get a shot and at least now he may have options which is better than being forced into somewhere you don't want to be.
