What am I missing? Hawk fans are talking like they are in the mix. They are 14-13. Their RPI is 136. Thats right 136. Drake has a higher RPI than Iowa. Even if they win out, their RPI will still be north of 100 more than likely. And they will be an underdog in 3 out of their last 4 games.

What am I missing?

You aren't missing anything. They only have a chance if they win out - and I don't mean just the regular season. They are delusional.

The B1G is the greatest conference EVAR!!!11!!!1!! Or haven't you heard? The entire conference is good enough to get in.

Anyways, I haven't been over to HN, but I would assume (hope?) it's just the delusional idiots thinking NCAA's. I'm sure we'd have some idiots here too thinking the same thing if the roles were switched.

But this thread could be fun to follow.

Don't tell HerbyHawk they don't have a chance. As we speak, he's probably going through all of the different scenarios of how the NCAA tourney selection committee can't leave them out.

I get being excited about a big win. I get thinking NIT is a possibility. But NCAA? Huh?

What's the highest RPI in history to receive an at large bid? Last year Alabama went 12-4 in the SEC and didn't make the dance due to their awful OOC. 12-4 in last years SEC is probably equal to 10-8 with Iowa's Big Ten schedule this year

Alabama had one win over a ranked team, and it was a 2-point win at home over Kentucky. They got stomped by Kentucky (in the SEC tourney), Purdue, Florida, and lost to Vandy. Plus they lost to Iowa, Ole Miss and Providence.

Iowa has got next to no shot of getting in, but they have more quality wins than 'Bama had last year. Not even close. The Big Ten is quite a lot stronger, top to bottom, than the SEC was a year ago. Kentucky was as good or better than any team in the Big Ten this year, and Florida would have been among the top 3-4 (including Kentucky), but after that the SEC started dropping off in a hurry.

Again, Iowa won't get in without winning the BTT. I'll hold out hope for that until it's extinguished, but I know it's highly unlikely to happen.

This is true, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the cakewalk schedule Iowa received in conference.

Alabama had a cakewalk schedule in the SEC last year, too. Kentucky once, Florida once, Vanderbilt once, Georgia once, and Tennessee once. They did go 3-2 in those games, but the win over Kentucky was a total fluke. They got the bulk of their wins because they doubled up on the ****** teams in the SEC west.

Iowa is at least doubling up on Wisconsin and Indiana, plus games against OSU, MSU, and Michigan. Playing two against Purdue is pretty stiff for being the 6th best team you play in the conference.

The Hawks fans here are too embarassed to admit that there are hoards of their brethren out there in Hawkeyeville who actually believe Iowa is on the bubble.

umm isn't that the point?

Playing one game (not round robin)against the top three teams in the conference?

Kind of like Iowa's FB schedule 2011/2012--won't even play Ohio St or Wisconsin

how pathetic

No, the point is that Alabama's schedule was weaker. Playing Wisconsin, and Purdue twice is much stronger than playing Georgia, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt once was last year. Call OSU/MSU/Michigan and Kentucky/Florida a wash.

Oh- what a shock-you again. And be sure to include pathetic in your biography.

For starters, they have no chance short of winning every game until the Big 10 championship, and if they don't win that game they are a bubble team.

The odd thing about Iowa is that they have what a lot of bubble teams lack: marquee wins. They have wins @Wisky, Mich at home, and Indiana at home. Their issue is they lost a lot of VERY winable games. If they would've won like 3 or 4 games that they should've they would be a stron bubble team.

Imagine if they beat Campbell, Nebraska, @ Penn State, & Clemson. 3 are home games and 1 was on the road against argueable the worst team in the Big 10. They turn the tides on those games and they are 18-9 and 8-6 in league play.

That said, I feel dirty even talking about Iowa when ISU has a great thing going. But, it is a message board and kind of an interesting discussion....

so sez a Beth Beglin groupee who lives on a cyclone board:twitcy::twitcy::twitcy:

or is it Angie Lee?

Also, I don't pretend to hate the Clones while at the same time talking about them. You pretend to HATE the Hawkeyes, yet its the only thing you talk about. Weird.

Hate the teams?

Where have I criticized a player or team specifically? It's usually a crazy Iowa fan or media hack that is fodder.
