Does Baylor Cheat?

yes, during the first media timeout, the entire crowd put on neon t-shirts. it looked great on tv, game was on CBS too. a little strange, but our fanbase never wears the same color, so it was nice to see.
coming from someone who left Waco almost 7 years ago and has been back a few times recently, the place has changed a lot, in a good way. there has really been a ton of commercial development, I was shocked.
there are still rundown areas and overall low income per capita in Waco, but there are also VERY nice surrounding suburbs. Woodway, Hewitt, McGregor, China Spring all have some wealth.
it's an average city with your normal things to do... ~125k, ~250k metro, ~25k college students. good people too, generally nice. the reputation is much worse than the actual place.
not here to defend Waco tho, it's certainly no utopia... I cannot comment on Ames, never been there. I know Iowa has 2 great college towns tho
I have been to Waco many times, and there is nothing endearing about it. For the person that indicated Baylor`s proximitry to DFW, TCU and SMU both have much nicer campuses than Baylor and are in the metroplex. They have just as much bb tradition as Baylor(none), and they are not getting anywhere near the recruits that Baylor does. Barnes is ****** because he has all of the advantages in Austin, and Drew is getting better recruits. Barnes knows why, but can`t/won`t say. I can assure you that Barnes and Drew are going head to head on recruits, and Barnes knows what handlers are asking for.
To the Iowa State fans this just didn't happen overnight. It took several painful seasons and a LOT OF HARD WORK by Drew to get to this point. After the murder and NCAA punishment many of our players left to which helped get several recruits because we could sell them immediate playing time as freshmen. Even then we struck out on many recruits. Our highest recruits PJ3 and Austin are from DFW and were recruited early when nobody were after them. It so happened that they matured and became top blue chips. They are both just a hour away and come from Christian households which Baylor appeals to.
Waco is a nice town with its issues like everyone else. However its near all the major cities in Texas, has great weather (75 degrees today and sunny). There are places to hang out in downtown and its about to explode. Developers are coming in all directions.
BU has great academics, facilities, hot babes, and a tight family atmosphere. We recruit off that and do the best we can. We strike out way more than we bring in but we try.
We have sold out our last 3 games and have never drawn well for ISU. Didn't help that KU and Mizzou were blowouts which ****** people off including me. Fan support is not a problem. Tradition is being built.
Oh and Drew has been pursued by several schools but BU is a perfect match for him and he is paid real well.

you do know that the #1 factor for almost every recruit is who is going to be coaching them and how comfortable they are with the staff, right? I mean, come on... your post fails to take into account who the coaches are for each school and how they approach recruiting.
the difference between Baylor and SMU/TCU, besides that we have been in a major conference, is the coaches. Coach Drew is clearly a special recruiter, as evidenced by his ability to get foreign players to Valpo, where he had 2 top 25 classes in a row before leaving, and then to get foreign players like Aaron Bruce and Mamadou Diene to Baylor when he first came. he doesn't have to rely on that anymore tho.
his methods and work ethic get results, and he has assembled a staff of young, tireless recruiters as well (some think too many and that we need an X's and O's specialist).
the location is just a part of it. thanks to Drew, Baylor is a better program now than TCU or SMU, so why would a kid from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area play there when he can play 100 miles down the highway in a better league and for a better staff?
we have become a destination school for recruits in Texas, and Texas is loaded with talent. deal with it. these threads come across as nothing but butthurt.

Baylor fans, it's just one thread, don't worry we are just angry. You aren't going to convince people either way that your town is great by posting here lol.
I lived at in Harker Heights, Texas for most of my military career. I drove through Waco more times than I would like to remember. My kids had various athletic trips to Waco . . . I have eaten there . . been on campus . . driven through various parts of Waco . . . THEY have made improvements to their campus. That being said, . . . .
Waco is not a place where I would live . . . . truck traffic and a ZILLION cars slashing through Waco everyday . . . with all of that great OZONE . . is not quality living.
Like most Texas cities along I-35 . . . you see nothing but miles of shoddy, shabby, throw away pop up businesses along the route. Poor Zoning control is the norm. Live there and love it . . if you want . . . it is not for me. The only thing decent is the Schlotsky Sandwich shop along the route.

TCU? Uh sorry but TCU does not have a nicer campus. SMU is nice but small and condensed. Both of them have crap facilities for athletics. Doesn't help that they are in non BCS conferences. They also have very little support from their fanbase and DFW. Also they are much smaller in enrollment. TCU joining the Big 12 will no doubt help them. Who cares what Barnes thinks. He gets all his players from Findley Prep. Many of them hate the SOB after their freshman year.

I don't have anything against Baylor; in fact they might be my favorite other Big XII team. Still though, I can't help but doubt the legitimacy of their rise to prominence. I think Baylor fans are too invested in their own mythology to see how improbable their situation is. If you root for Baylor you naturally think you are God's gift to the NCAA, every fan base does. However, to everyone outside the Waco bubble, the "goings on" look pretty fishy.

I have a source that knows somebody that knows someone close to the situation and the word is that Baylor is cheating. If that is not proof than I don't know what is.:yes:
Since the Bliss scandle, the shooting and the probation, Baylor has been the most looked at Basketball school in the country by the NCAA. I quarantee that in their recruiting every I is doted and every T is crossed.
By the way, someone told me that ISU was getting all those Division 1 transfers because Fred was falsifying transcripts and arrest records.

Oh I agree. I hate driving on it. our politicians finally figured out that it needs to be 3 lanes
