Does Baylor Cheat?

I am not trying to whine about losing to Baylor, but do any of you wonder how Baylor became a sudden beast in the B12? I have read negative articles regarding Drew's recruiting tactics, but I wonder if there is some actual smoke to how he is landing some of the top talent in the country. They are signing McDonald's AA and some of the top players in the nation the last several years. I read he hired some AAU coach from the Houston area who helped sway or direct players to come to Baylor. He was the one in charge of trying to get John Wall to the school, he later left to manage John Wall in the NBA. I really don't trust how they conduct themselves in Texas college athletics, especially after watching the 30:30 regarding SMU.

They showed a statistic during the game tonight about how many 20 win seasons BU had before he arrived and now how many they have after he arrived. Just seems odd, how one coach can make that big of a difference in a school, that has had little success and after the Bliss scandal. Maybe he is a great coach, I just thought I would see what you OP thought.

Seriously, how in the hell would anyone on this board know? I know a lot of people throw out those accusations, but no one here has any actual evidence.

It's entirely possible that they just have a coach that can recruit great basketball players. He may not be the best X's & O's guy, but if he consistently lands 4/5 star players, they will do just fine.

He recruits great. Many coaches come into schools that have had no previous success and build a program. Coach K did that at Duke, not sure of the history MSU had before Izzo, among others.

I don't think he is a great coach because they are pulling in these recruits with little to no results. They didn't even make the NCAA tourney last year and they fielded almost the same team that played tonight.

If they cheated, I am sure KU and KSU and UT fans would be all over it like rope a dope.

acgclone you are a clown! I didn't ask if anyone knew or had inside information regarding Baylor, I just started a thread to see what opinions others had on Baylor and how they became a powerhouse. You must still be bitter about the loss, go to bed and sleep it off....it will serve you well!

He's bitter? You are the one who made a topic about Baylor cheating to get recruits.

Hahahahaha really? That would be like one of a band of thieves ratting the rest out. Who knows what goes on but I'll say this; all of these schools push the boundaries of ethics and legality to its fullest extent to win.

Why would coach Drew need to cheat to lure phenoms? It's BU! With all of that rich tradition, why WOULDN'T the country's best ballers want to wear the green and gold? After all, if Waco was good enough for David Koresh, it's gotta be perfect for Scott's Branch Drewvidians!

yes, more than others, pro a lil bit. More than Calipari etc, prob not.

I don't think Calipari ever really cheated and I think he certainly doesn't now. Every single coach out there uses runners to steer kids to their program, Cal just had the best runner in the country in Worldwide Wes. Now, he's at one of the most storied programs of all time with a stellar reputation for turning kids into first round draft picks, is it really hard to see why kids would want to go play at UK?

Not to mention they are a top 10 team and they had 5,000 people there tonight.
Sometimes I wonder how they went from an absolute joke and a murder scandal to what they are now. This with a coach tthat that never played college basketball and had 1 year of head basketball coaching experience at Valpo. Throw in the fact that they are a small private Baptist college in a city that doesn't exactly pride itself on nightlife....who knows...I just know we have to beat them at home.

And the rest of the conference below us and some above are asking that about CFH. Program run in the ground for half a decade and in year 2 under CFH they're a tournament team? Most of us even thought it would take a couple more years. CFH must cheat.

All I know is who wouldn't wanna play in front of that packed house every night?! How can one not get excited with all that green?

He has left his last two coaching jobs on probation along with accusations of Marcus Camby getting paid along with D.Rose having help on passing his ACT.

I love that every time we play each other this thread gets started here. If you guys are interested in legitimate discussion, I'm game, but if you're trying to self-medicate by telling yourselves that the only reason Baylor won is because they cheat, carry on.

it isnt self medicating really. i have wondered about it every time i look at recruiting rankings and the top 100 recruits. i also wondered about it two years ago when they made a run to the elite eight and after reading articles about how other coaches dislike him.
