Someone at work told me that this morning the heard some radio heads were talking about Rhoads to Illinois. Don't know if they were just talking or had some sort of actual info. Was just wondering if anyone heard this or has any info?

This should be proof that these radio people know nothing.

Would make less than zero sense. CPR isn't going anywhere. At least in the foreseeable future.

His name will be mentioned in a lot of the coaching vacancies because people will just assume that he will leave ISU the first opportunity he gets.

Consider it a good thing that he is getting mentioned for these jobs.

He was listed in a "these might be guys that Illinois may look at" list in the Chicago Tribune.

I had a guy that I used to work with, who is now in Illinois, tell me that same thing a little while ago in an e-mail.

That was the first I had heard of it.

I'd like to ask the idiots who throw Rhoads' name out for every job opening: why would a guy who is about to go to his 2nd bowl game in 3 years, knocked off the #2 team in the nation and is playing one of the toughest schedules would leave that situation to try and do it all over again at some other school that probably isn't as committed to football as ISU is at this point (Illinois couldn't care less about football). It's one thing to mention his name with openings that are a step up, or openings that aren't a complete mess, but throwing his name out for every piddly job opening is just stupid. Most of the Illinois media is a bunch of arrogant ****** who are oblivious to sports outside of Chicago and the big 10+1+1 anyway, but it's still annoying.

I personally see that as a downward move considering how weak the B1G is.
Which would be a good reason to take it? Lots of television coverage, big talent pool, lots of $ from revenue sharing. Then take a big job after the amazing job he has done?

I don't think this will happen, but one could spin it that way.

I can just see people freaking out every time his name is mentioned. It's a good thing, people, shows how much he's done here. And while it's not a guarantee that he stays here, I think for him to leave, it would have to be due to a combination of a very prestigious position and ISU not helping him where he needs it.

It probably stems from Mark Schlabach spewing **** on Twitter. I asked him what is it about Illinois that would be a step up from the great work Paul Rhoads has done at Iowa State. He never responded. This is why he is an "anal"yst. Pulls **** out of his ***, then runs and hides.

I think that is somewhat understandable, given the recent history with Chizik and Sanderson.
