We don't have any conference games schedule on Sundays this season (at least for ISU MBB). Why is that such a problem?
Other conferences made it work. It can't be that difficult.

We have 3 women's conference games on Sundays. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I'd rather get a school that didn't require special considerations.
Pretty sure the WBB frequently plays on Sundays, at least they seemed to when I was in band.
And I still say that a BYU football + ND everything else package deal might be a better add than Cincinnatti (Assuming Louisville is #11).
Yeah.. no. The last thing we need to do is to add 1-2 more schools that think theyre better than the conference. All in or nothing.

I said might be. I figured the people on here that claim adding USF would be a great move in the name of tv markets and recruiting exposure would be all over it
Why not? It's a good situation for them. Get into an AQ conference, but not one that is strong enough to walk away when you start making scheduling demands or only want to join for football.
This would make so much sense for all parties involved...which is why it will never happen.
Outside of Notre Dame, ISU would fit into the Big 10 like glove in hand. Geographically, academically, culturally. I know non-ISU fans would scoff, but I even think ISU would fit right in athletically.
However, the one thing that matters most is how many new TV sets you can get to turn in. ISU doesn't bring either of the big two factors when it comes to TV sets...(1) decades of winning tradition and/or (2) population.
So I'll just hope that the B12 lasts for quite a while.
Can you imagine though the spike in attendance ISU would have for football if they were in the Big 10 west division? Can you imagine how many fans Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota (well, sort of), Wisconsin, and Illinois would bring every year? I guess with the first two we can imagine it. You could easily put 65,000 seats in for most of those games and fill Jack Trice.

Let me try to summarize:
1. Mizzou to SEC doesn't make a lot of sense on a lot of levels, but you have to see the move through a university president's eyes. And all his eyes see is fear.
2. Thinks it's likely West Virginia comes to a settlement with the Big East to leave this year.
3. "New" Big East will likely not start until 2013...Which if true could lead to a really awkward 5 team BCS league in 2012...Something has to give here.
4. Utah St and San Jose St to Mtn West??? La Tech and NM State to C-USA??? If so, that'd leave one school standing by itself...Idaho. Why does this matter? If Boise doesn't go to the Big East, then Big East expansion may not happen...which would leave Idaho safe...And the same Board of Ed governs both Boise and Idaho.
5. BYU to Big East? Who knows. It's possible, but the TV issues are complicated.
6. San Diego State to Big East (Western Division)? If Big East goes beyond 12 it could happen.

Exactly. Every team in the division would be within a few hundred miles of each other, and Midwest football fans travel very well. As valuable as it is to have your TV "footprint" stretched as far an thin as possible, isn't it more valuable if your fans actually go to the games?
I don't understand why we don't at least apply for admission; what's the downside? Tell Delany that we'll do whatever it takes--mortgage the campanile and Curtiss Hall to bowl in the SEZ and an an upper deck to fit 75,000 seats in JTS if we have to. If I lived anywhere near the Midwest, I would be at every single home and away game.

I would love to be in a conference with pre-2000 Missouri, back before their fans got drunk and cocky on 5 years of semi-relevance in football. It was so fun to play Missouri in basketball then--seeing Johnny Orr square off against Norm Stewart in front of the Antlers in the Hearnes Center, that 1995 game against UCLA in the NCAA tournament, etc. Those were special years.
It's actually becoming less and less important as long as you get watched on TV.

That's the beauty of it; we're such a long-shot that nobody could ever seriously consider us a source of instability. Look at how little people care about Missery leaving--just slip in some more Big East flotsam and keep on truckin'.
1. You don't exactly just apply for admission now days. Everything is a verbal mutual agreement before any paperwork ever takes place.
2. Even though the move would make a ton of sense from the academic research side, and let more fans see the games with a close opponent, it will never happen because each school's athletic directors might have to go down in TV revenue from like 27 million to 26 million. TV money drives athletic directors which drives expansion, not academics. Also, unless ISU was paired in expansion with Notre Dame or Texas, people would say the Big 10 took a prestige hit and they'd make fun of the Big 10 even further.
Count me as one person who would not be excited about being in the Big Ten. I think it's great that a state our size has two BCS teams from different conferences.

Exactly. Up until 2000 or so, the arms race in college football was how big of stadium you could build.
Now, the arms race in college football is how much TV revenue you can bring in. The number of eyes watching you on TV are far more important than the number of eyes actually at the stadium.
