I thought this whole deal was done last night. Liars I tells ya.

Glad A&M is gone. I'd like to see the conference stay at nine teams (ISU plays 8 conference games and 4 non conference). Maybe the conference could look to add teams in when Tier 1 rights are up. JMHO.

I think this is a pretty solid option. Go back to an 8 game football schedule and play every team each year. For bball you go back to a 16 game schedule and get everyone home and away every year for a full balanced schedule.

As for TV, you keep the contracts which are now split 9 ways instead of 10. Even if OU and UT give full sharing on Tier 1, everyone is probably making the same or more now that we can carve up aTm's share of the pie.

At that point, the only reason I would see to add new teams is if you think it can increase your Tier 1 contract in 2016, or if the revenue from a title game can offset the additional teams. If it can't you just stay put.

I really think this conference could come together really well for everyone if we all stick together. The money could be right up there with any other option. And I think a lot of the anger and bad blood between the schools could really up the level of rivalry on the field, as long as we can actually stabilize the league itself. Up until now, there seemed to be a real division between the north and the south and we seemed really disconnected from each other. Now we will be playing every year and my hatred for the South schools right now is stronger than my hatred for the hawks and the huskers over the years. I can't wait to boo the sooners and the horns until I lose my voice.

How do you know the Big 12 isn't recruiting new teams? A sportswriter tweeted last night that such talks were going on.

I have no doubt that we, whoever "we" are anymore, is recruiting new teams. But first, I'm sure everything is on hold until we know whether we continue to exist anymore or not. You can't recruit someone to your conference when you don't know if you'll have a conference to recruit them to.

No question, recruiting BYU to the remaining nine Big 12 teams seems in theory far, far easier than seven, or God forbid, five of us trying to recruit three or five or seven new schools to join us. Assuming you could even persuade that many to leave their current situations, the logistics of all that exodus, settlement fees, etc. and the management of a new conference is a lot to work through.

If the okie schools go to the PAC, do we hope UT and TT go their own way and we invite the BE to join us? We would be up to 14 teams and be the same size as PAC and most likely sec. If we can work the tv contracts right, we might be able to hold teams over ACC.

We stick it to those leaving, 25-30 million exit fee, as per contract and land nicely. Remember we only made in the 8 area last year. Not that I don't want to improve, I definitely don't want to go backwards.

I actually want to stick to around 10 teams. And I definitely want to keep UT and OU around as we negotiate our Tier 1 rights in just 4 years. That is why we need OU and UT. And in reality they need the rest of us as well. It is difficult to win with a whole conference of superpowers. You need the average teams like ISU to fill out the conference. OU and UT should have the goal of strengthening the conference overall to give the appearance of conference strength. While still maintaining their edge in recruiting to get NC's. Which is what they are all about.

IMO, it would be a disaster for OU and OSU to leave. The deals for the Pac-?? are done unless Larry Scott has negotiated a BIG increase if he can poach OU to join along with others. And if he did, then the Pac ?? could be found liable for damages to the Big 12. You definitely take all the exit fees. IMO, we would be wounded by the loss of OU. Without a doubt. With them we have a 2 headed monster in football which is about what the other conferences have. We would still have a big presence with just UT but not the same. OU goes to the Pac?? and they suddenly only divide up about $15 to $20 million per year. They could lose at least $5 million to $10 million per year. This is more of a negotiating ploy to share in the benefits of the LHN or add a deal with the Big 12 Network while every school gets a cut from the LHN.

Um, Remember when the B12 formed? UNL said the same things then as they did last year, that the revenue sharing was whack. They didn't like it then, and they didn't like it last year either. CU left mainly from the timing, but the imbalance of $ was a main factor in all of this; do you think CU would of left on its own merits?

PS; the main reason UT is trying to hold this conference together is because no other conference will allow the unequal revenue sharing they enjoy. LHN is gone if they go B10 or Pac12.

Double PS: If you are reading this as some kind of sympathy for UNL, you are sorely mistaken...
So why did UNL admins consistently voted for unequal revenue sharing if they didn't like it? Please explain that conundrum to me. Their excuses for joining the B1G are just political spin (aka bold-faced lies). UNL and UT were at war with on another from day one of the Big12 and UNL lost, so they went to the B1G to apply a salve to their damaged egos, and placate donors and fans. I believe the reasons for the move are that simple and anything else offered as an explanation is just spin.

I would actually prefer the 9-10 teams area personally. I would love to just let a&m walk and hold nine and be able to keep contracts. I like 4 non con games and playing home and away with basketball.

I have said that I believe we will be in the big XII of some sort. I was just throwing out potentials, just like the other 10,700 posts on here.

Instead of believing what the NU schills and Berry Tramel tell you, look at the facts and make your own decision. It doesn't matter what OU, TAMU, or NU say, it matters what they did and are doing, and in revenue sharing matters, OU, TAMU and NU voted with UT, because they wanted to get exactly what UT got. Also, the facts indicate that TAMU has been trying to divorce itself from UT long before the creation of the Big 12.

It's extremely difficult for me to understand how a rational person can look at the hypocricy and complacency in the voting patterns of OU, TAMU, and NU in Big 12 policy matters, and the motivations of TAMU, OU, CU, and NU, and somehow lay the entire blame on UT. But if it makes you feel better for some reason, go right on ahead.
That is what class manipulators/PR gurus/southern wheeler dealers do for a living. The flim flam man was from down south wasn't he?

Not sure how this will work, but I put together this spreadsheet out of curiosity. I wanted to put data in here that would allow me to sort the data in different ways and see how ISU compares to other schools regardless of their conference affiliation.

Chris can you close this thread too, this seems like a bunch of unreliable information????? The instability is killing me, I am going to close my eyes to this for the rest of the week....:twitcy:

They recently voted to share Tier 2 money equally. And Texas is now publicly stating they want Tier 1 shared as well. This puts the onus on OU who is saying now that they want revenues split equally and is one of the reasons they give for going to the Pac-??.

Nebraska and aTm are on record as well saying the reasons for leaving the conference are because they want equal sharing of revenue.

Yet they have consistently voted against equal revenue sharing.

So as he said, look at their actions. Their previous actions do not back up their words they express today.

And remember that aTm was the one that took the Forgotten Five's share of Exit fees from kNu and the Buffs.
Those rats abandoning ship should have to pay that back (bad faith acceptance) as they were going to sneak away with the money anyway.

My weekly email updated from Pres. Loftin:

At a speaking engagement on Monday, Southeastern Conference Commissioner Mike Slive re-emphasized the league's desire for Texas A&M to become its 13th member. You can read Commissioner Slive’s statement at:

Commissioner Slive Talks Conference Alignment > SEC > NEWS.

Please be assured that Texas A&M remains highly attractive to the SEC in both athletics and academics, which tied together embody the Aggie Spirit, and that we are working diligently to iron out the details of our future inclusion in the conference.
