Jon Miller

Jon's crush on the Captain is amusing and I'll concede that most of us feel the same about Hoiberg. :)

However, I will say that this notion that the Captain is some great guy is somewhat stupid since I have a huge problem with someone knowingly allowing his kid to live in housing intended for low income people. And I also have a problem with a leader of a team not rushing back when several team members are seriously ill because of your program.

He has a good shtick going on over there. A couple weeks ago he got another guy in with him too. I wish I would have thought of that.

That poster awards of the year thread he came up with was awesome. And posters put there awards in there sig line.

I visited HN to read a few good meltdowns, and my one post there was to track down that piece of **** TarHeelHawk and call him out when DJK got arrested for running a drug house. He once told me it was insane to assert the idea that Iowa City had a cocaine culture, which might contribute to the higher incidents of bar violence.

The site runs horribly. Everything loads slow and adds block **** up everywhere. What a dump.

People thought calling DJK's house a "drug house" was embellishing, but as someone who has entered and drank there with some girls that I know from high school shortly before it got busted, I will agree with the term "drug house." Honest to God I did not partake, I was just with my female friends from high school who personally got invited by him at the bar we were at and I followed. But yeah, there was some stuff going down in that house

I normally do not post things, but recently a friend sent me this link, which is a Jon Miller essay about how wonderful Kirk Ferentz is.

Here's Why I am an Ardent Ferentz Supporter - HawkeyeNation Forum

After reading it, I added a post on hawkeyenation under this thread stating:

"Every college program does service work for the community that the university is located and every coach does special PR for deserving families. It is wonderful that this special attention was given to this deserving family, but please do not make Ferentz out to be some sort of saint..."

Within minutes, my post was deleted from the thread and when I tried to log back in using my log on, I received the message that I had been banned for no specific reason and the ban would never be lifted..

I could see this type of action if I was inflammatory or inappropriate in some way, but for giving an opinion?

I guess Jon Miller never wants to hear anything negative about his idol....

Don't you know the rules?
You can not criticize Kirk Ferentz, or Hayden Fry.
They are untouchable to anything negative.
It is a shame you were banned,

In my defense, I typically post over there regarding only ISU and Michigan topics and it's usually only in the respect of facts. They start talking and have no idea what they are talking about most of the time. I don't think I have ever posted in a discussion that didn't pertain to ISU or Michigan. I try desperately to keep it to facts when I do post in an effort to inform them. I do however, enjoy when someone puts up a picture of the guy they claim is ShadasRevenge. That's funny.

Also, what is TarHeelHawks user name over there out of curiosity.

He is Shadasrevenge.

And if its the picture I think it is, it IS him. It was dug up back when he was on CF. Someone googled his user name, and it pulled up his twitter, which had a ton of pictures of him and his Cave Troll wife.

Is it a picture of some goony looking bastard at the Field of Dreams in a Cubs hat?

To be brutally honest the same thing could be said about us until the mods moved all the rivalry threads off of the main page.

I remember the days when a majority of the threads on the main page were Iowa related. I can almost guarantee it would be the same today, but the mods were smart and moved all Iowa talk to the In-State Rivals page. I'm surprised this thread has stuck around on the main page this long!

I didn't read that article because I'm not one for puff pieces. I think Ferentz is a decent guy, especially when compared to his peers. That said, he's not perfect and there are a lot of things that have transpired that I don't agree with. Do Iowa fans hype him up to a saint like level? yes. Do most fanbases hype up their coach (if he's had success)? hell yes. Just look to Ohio State for a prime example just how irrational fans can be. They're still convinced Tressel runs a clean program.

I guess I'm not sure what the problem is with Miller's article. Were you guys surprised he has a bias when it comes to Ferentz? I don't expect unbiased articles from Jon, just like I don't from Chris. We're all fans first and we all have rose colored glasses, just some people's glasses are a little rosier than others.

As for the ISU fans on HN for the most part they're pretty good posters.

Best guy over there is HawkeyeRyno - he loves to pull stuff out of his backside when it comes to CFH. He is a major drama queen, every time they lose a recruit I think he is calls the suicide prevention hotline. Here are some samplings:

So much for building relationships as important. Fran has been recruiting this kid for 3 years. We have nothing to sell to these kids that they care about. Without wins or an NCAA tourney bid to sell, we are going to have to hope for extreme player development. Obviously a new facility, style of play, relationships, Big Ten, TV don't matter.

It's not being negative. It's called being frustrated and concerned. If you aren't concerned about the constant lost recruiting battles then you have accepted Iowa where they are. You should be upset that schools like Western Kentucky are better options than a Big Ten team, Iowa, is spit on. It's embarrassing as a fan that Iowa is viewed this way.

It's like a less attractive Cerberus.

Yeah, I went mythical on this.

Cerberus has 3 heads. The two headed monster dog from Greek mythology that you're looking for is Orthus from the labors of Hercules.
