I normally do not post things, but recently a friend sent me this link, which is a Jon Miller essay about how wonderful Kirk Ferentz is.

After reading it, I added a post on hawkeyenation under this thread stating:

"Every college program does service work for the community that the university is located and every coach does special PR for deserving families. It is wonderful that this special attention was given to this deserving family, but please do not make Ferentz out to be some sort of saint..."

Within minutes, my post was deleted from the thread and when I tried to log back in using my log on, I received the message that I had been banned for no specific reason and the ban would never be lifted..

I could see this type of action if I was inflammatory or inappropriate in some way, but for giving an opinion?

I guess Jon Miller never wants to hear anything negative about his idol....
 
This reminds me about the Big Ten Network story on the Hawkeye football team going to Parkersburg and helping out. UNI and ISU spent much more time there but Iowa got the documentary and national praise. Go figure.

Yeah but the hawkeye football team was on work release so it was a better story.
 
While I do agree with your comment, I wish Cyclone fans would just stay off HN. I read it from time to time, and a majority of Cyclones who post there just make us all sound really really dumb.

Let them think their coach is god, what good does it do to tell them otherwise?

You see Jon doesnt have a radio show anymore and isnt working for the BigTen Network anymore and left his job at WHO b/c of some sound business advice he received from his friend Steve Deace. So now he has one thing left and thats Hawkeye football. So you can see why Joan would offer out his tin cup...errrr honest opinion of Capt'n Kirk. Can't blame the guy one more bad season or another case of Rhabdo and Jonny boy is livin off the gov't and his bff Stevie won't allow that.

By the way welcome to the banned posters club, the list long and distinguished.
 
Not surprising. Jon is quick to hammer anyone who badmouths St. Kirk. I wonder if Jon will like the taste of the next HC as much.

I almost feel dirty after reading the level of man love Jon has for Ferentz. Truly blinded by his aura. Just wrong.

Now if he was talking about Hoiberg, that would be another story entirely.

Every Cyclone who posts over there makes us look like huge d-bags. With regard to the Hawkeyes, ignorance really is bliss. Stop worrying about them in any way, shape or form and your life will be much better, I promise.
 
Let Jon enjoy his football coach because his basketball coach can't recruit. :smile:

I disagree. I've seen Yaman, Cyclones17 and Cydcar over there and they're always rational and bring good points. I'd say the majority of Cyclones there are good posters. I don't go there much so I could be wrong...

Yeah, one thing I pride CF is you can get your opinion out on this board if its well constructed and not malicious.
 
Whenever I watch Christmas Vacation and see Todd (the angry neighbor) I think of Jon. Not sure why, but there seems to be a slight resemblance.

I think as a person Ferentz is actually a good guy, he's made some questionable moves regarding the program and how it's handled some situations, I've met him just once in a fairly small setting and he seemed genuinely personable and friendly.

I guess you are right... I just thought that providing a simple opinion would not hurt, but I should know by now that Cyclone opinions do not matter to Jon Miller.
 
I read the HN boards every once in awhile. And I did read where he offered a reason for banning you at the end of it. I don't remember what it was, but he made it sound like you, or someone said something slanderous. Whatever, Its his site, and if he wants to only have beergoggled opinions about everything hawkeye then so be it.

I do not post there because I probably would not have anything constructive to add, and the hawk fans would get under my skin too easily. I do like to go and read every once in awhile about anything random that may be there.
