I was watching the show Beauty and the Geek last night. (My wifes like it. It's one of my all day football Saturday trade Offs). So one of the geaks is a guy that is Majoring in Robotic Engineering from... Iowa State University. I am not sure if that is the that correct Major but I do know he is in Engineering and he mentioned that he works with Robotics. So hopefully he will be able to man up and score a hottie and represent well for the Clones.



For the record and for all of you guys who don't understand Saturday football trade offs. it works like this. The wife likes football. She can't however sit and watch from 9:00 a.m. gameday until USC beats someone down around 10:00 p.m. So I get to watch my sports and I have to give her some stuff. Big Brother, Beauty and the Geek and so on. Normally I get into the program she is watching. The key is to act like you hate it. That way she can't count that program as one we like to watch together.
 
I missed the show last night, but I think they are replaying it on Thursday nights!

I happen to enjoy when my husband watches a trade-off show for me. :yes:

That's gold Knownothing. Pure gold. As a guy who will be getting married a year from tomorrow, I will take this advice and run with it. Either that, or live in the garage.
 
Or you send your wife upstairs to watch TV somewhere else and that's the trade off.

We only have one flat screen. It would cause a riff in the family. No need for that. Everything works out this way.
 
My girlfriend is pretty good about trying to get into new shows. I've gotten her to like "Battlestar Galactica" and "Dr. Who," she even watches "Star Trek" every now and again!

Of course, I don't have to trade her for football games because I don't have much time to watch much TV on Saturday anyway due to Marching Band.
 
What if you just hate the program altogether? Like I get forced into watching that god aweful show Grey's Anatomy because she puts up with having to watch Family Guy, South Park, etc. on any random night when nothing else good is on. Plus it's on after Survivor which is a show we both like so unfortunately it doesn't fall on a night that we usually use for ourselves to take care of misc. stuff and run errands and such. Guess she's never come out and said she doesn't like those shows but I'm sure she's probably less than thrilled watching the ramblings of Peter Griffin.

It's hard to beleive that someone in Marching band likes Star Trek. :smile: J/K
 
After watching a few of the Beauty & the Geeks with the gf, I actually enjoy watching that. I've seen the past couple seasons and am excited to watch this one.

Now a few other shows like Sex in the City and the most pointless and worthless show ever...The Hills...I just can't do it. I've tried but just can't do it.

I feel your pain brother. I've found that the only suitable way to get through that mind-numbing experience is to make that night "drinking night". I started by just having a beer or 2 during the show but by the end of the season I was having to take down a 1/2 bottle of 8-Star Whiskey in order to make it through that pathetic excuse for a show.:mad:
 
You are not scouting properly. You have the internet. You must find out about these show's before you enter that show. Grey's anatomy for example. We had a lot of women at work talking about the show. That cued me into something is wrong with this show. So I investigated the show. They were refering to the guys on the show as McDreamy and McSteamy. That right there made me say "find something else in it's time slot that she might like". See with beuty and the geek you get to look at hot stupid chicks all episode long. So basically if the show sucked you get to look at hot chicks. Now that I think about it. Even if the show sucks. Make sure you at least get to look at hot chicks for an hour. That is a must.

Good point Knownothing, unfortunately I officiate sports often during the week and my wife got into the Grey's show under my radar. The bad thing about that show is that there are NO hot chicks to look at. The main character actually looks about the best but I think she looks better because she's beside that hideous Asian lady the whole time. I agree, Beauty and the Geek is definitely a "keeper" when considering what shows you watch with your wife. Next Top Model is another one that I'd highly recommend you pawn off as a show you'll "give in and let her watch."

It is worth the extra $$ to get the wife her own LCD in the bedroom and a tivo for that. Or just do that and you can escape! It is all about priorities.

and this thread has now hit a new all-time low. Funny, but ouch. I just made sure that my late night at work was the Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty and some other show night, plan accordingly. 2 TV's a must with an "office" with the other TV so you aren't leaving her for nothing (aka the Tulsa/Akron football game)
