ISU -Iowa Post Game Thread

RUN THE TABLE! Keep those jerseys and run the table. Haha. Gotta dream.

I was thinking the same....those looked a lot better than our regular uni's, and our record in them is not too bad :wink:.

For all the talk about new uni's next year...why not keep the throwbacks?

congrats on the win, guys. I was watching the first half thinking wow, this is Brett Meyer circa 2005.

:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:
WOW!

FWIW, I listed to the second half on the Hawkeye Network, and their announcers were fair and complimentary to ISU.

Great WIN for IOWA STATE!

Let's Go State!

I guess the thing I liked most (other than the final score) was the first play after the blocked FG, was a bomb to Blythe. GO FOR THE KILL! Did we ever see that in the last 12 years? Not successful, but a great call.

Congrats to the Clones. I am frustrated, but ISU was clearly the better team on the field. I was extremely impressed with Bowen again and Meyer had a great command. You have to feel good for your kicker.

Great GAME and TOUGH loss for Iowa...Good luck to the Hawkeyes the rest of the way.

Great win today guys! I was surrounded by a bunch of traitor UNI Students/Hawkeye fans and I was just swimming in broken dreams. Thats what they get for not cheering for their school. Great win and thanks for making US look even better!

I have been awake for 34 hours now and wont be going to sleep until late tonight. This may be the greatest weekend of my life. Shaggy is my hero. Chizik is the real deal. When he was walking through the mob of students he didn't say a word, looked straight ahead, with the same expression on his face. All he does is put his fist in the air and walk off. That is the sign of a bad @ss. We are in for good things in the coming years my friends.

YES! :biggrin::biggrin::spinny::v_SPIN::jiggy:WE WON!!!!

This was a HUGE win.....just amazing. Bret played great and Shaggy came through with a game winning kick.(now theres a sentance I didn't think I'd ever say) A great way for Gene to get his first win....I was practically shedding tears of joy(but not quite)once it was finally over. We won a close game and I liked most of the play-calling from the coaches. I had predicted a win, but I don't think I ever really believed it. Great effort from the players. This is truely a day for celebrating!

Lost a 100K job yesterday but I told my wife the sun would come up today. And it did. Thanks 'Clones.

I hope you're right! They looked pretty good today, especially the defense. I thought that Iowa would be testing the backs but there was some really nice pressure up front.

The offense took care of the ball, the D was big on 3rd down, and we didn't fold when things looked to be turning. Definitely have a long way to go, but this was a good building block.

The crowd looked good on TV and at one point the TV announcers even commented that they thought the announced attendance figure seemed too low, that the place was packed. It obviously wasn't as full as the UNI game, but it looks like Pollard's "gamble" was a home run. Hey hawk fans, I hope you are looking forward to a steady diet of Pollard up the middle for years and years to come, he has ISU marching!

Did we

Actually LOSE the turnover battle and still win the game?

Wasn't Meyer's fumble the only TO of the game.

You tell me that we lose or even tie in turnovers and still win, I'd have laughed my arse off.

Even more reason to be impressed by the D today.

Both teams really played their hearts out, but what it came down to was iowa wasnt ready to win and Jesse Smith is too much of a bad *** to be stopped. Mother ****** is gonna end up playing for the bears!!!

I can't say I predicted this win, but I did think it was a bit crass of the Hawks on their boards to take us so lightly. There were a couple of threads where they were contemplating how much they would win by if they played only freshman against us. Wow.

Thoughts: D was nuts today. The only TD came from a well played and executed mis-direction play. Blocked FG at the absolute PERFECT time. I think that was the loudest I've heard JTS. I'm not sure not scoring a TD against Iowa is as bad as some people are thinking. Their D line is good. We gave Meyer a lot of time, and I don't think they had many sacks either. Their D also hasn't given up a TD score yet, and their line is the reason for it. I liked how we actually forgot about the miscues and still fought, were it seemed like for the past couple weeks, we'd make mountains out of molehill mistakes.
