Sims information

How is that a huge problem? A stupid mistake by a teeenager, I have two at my house and they make dumb decisions every day. I can't see this being a compliance problem like the mom bought them a stuff as a boooster, actually that would probably be better.

As far as I know, the NCAA compliance rules don't make an exception for reporting a violation just because a dumb teenager took his mom's credit card and bought stuff for athletes. If it turns out that is what happened, hopfully his mom is not considered a booster or doesn't have some other kind of relationship with the university.

Then don't read them...

I am more concerned about who else is reading some of these post. Keep in mind that the DMR ran with this rumor off of this site. Keep in mind that the Larrygate photos were sent to the DMR by a hawk fan looking to hurt ISU. By all means, let's keep introducing worst case scenarios of coach tampering, NCAA violations, etc. People need to think before they post.

I have a credible source that has confirmed that he will indeed be facing 18 to life for his involvement in an underground dwarf tossing ring.

The rag wouldn't do such a thing. And you need to calm down, rumors people post will not bring down ISU basketball get a grip.

Im surprised it took this long for this story to leak................ ISU is DOOMED!!!!

Alright, let's stop the crap talk! I know it's sarcasm, but it can be taken totally the wrong way. Let's keep the thread on track and not start any unfounded scuttlebutt (Navy term for rumor).

Unbelievably, the CR Gazette thus far has reported nothing on Sims yet to my knowledge? I have to give them credit for that at least.

The Rag jumped on it before anyone really knew anything at all yet. They love to report any kind of "possible" bad news about ISU.

Did the dumb teenager buy stuff for an athlete or did he buy stuff for a pretty girl he met? If I'm reading this all correctly, Sims' roommate is a female (girlfriend?). Best case scenario, this is a kid trying to impress a girl who happens to live with a football player...

Could be the case here. As some of us stated that apparently there was a missing link related to the son with the credit card. And I'm still curious that it was awfully quick to identify Sims. Some posters said that they won't be able to recognize Sims in non-football setting let alone recognizing him from a store/surveillance camera.

And yes, Sims' roomate is his gf.

i'll stick with facts, Sims is a beast on the football field and we need to find a way for him to play next year at all costs.

Do you realize how much of a hypocrite this makes us look like? If Sims is innocent, then he plays, if he is guilty, he needs to be punished, either by suspensions or kicked off the team. We sit here on our high horse and ***** about the way Iowa puts there guys out on the field after legal problems. If CPR allows Sims to play if he is guilty, then we are no different.

Wow, this is way worse than we thought, that is some serious sh__.

So the more days that pass without him getting charged has to be a good thing, right? I sure hope so!

No, I never sat on my high horse and complained about Iowa, that was plenty of other fans that thought it was funny, however everyone knows it's college athletics and stuff like this happens every single team. I don't care if we are no different, maybe thats just what it takes to get to 9-10 wins. I'm not saying w/ sims we win 9-10 games, but we definitely win more with him in the line up.

It is the weekend. His flight risk is low. We know everything there is to know about him so if we have to find him we can. I see them either a) taking their time and getting to it when they do, or b) seeing this as nonessential for actions to be taken over the weekend. He will be in Ames far into the foreseeable future.

I'm OK with it. Let him play regardless of the findings. If it is as bad as it could potentially be, drag feet and Clayborn this guy. Look at the rosters of winning programs, you will notice that there is generally a criminal rap sheet for at least a few if not several of their palyers. We all wear blinders and are very righteous when we do not have a chance of winning (it makes us feel better about losing the right way). Unless it is a major felony, lets go back to the Hayden Fry days of don't ask, don't tell and win some stinking games. Winning is the best elixor. And I think for those on the high horse, you would be right in line to high five this kid if he made the game winning pick 6 against Texas, OU, or nebby. If in fact he is guilty of something, lets give a second and third chance. (speeding and tinting tickets do not count)!

I used to think this way but that was before ISU was nearly kicked out of a major conference for no reason other than we didn't have stacks of cash in the bank. This is the new world of college athletics IMO and hasn't been talked about enough.
Rules are going to have to be bent for schools like ISU. I don't like it but otherwise our future could be in the WAC or MAC. We need as strong as football program as possible under just about any means possible. (short of out and out lawlessness)

This, David Sims needs to be our safety this year, hope the legal system drags this out.

How about the legal system is swift and accurate and we hope he's innocent?

And if not - then CPR takes appropriate action - openly.

Anything else sends a horrible message to the team and invites other trouble.
