Anyone ever work for the ISU foundation call center? I've heard most people hate it but I'm getting desperate looking for some work haha

I sure hate getting jobs from them...even though I haven't graduated yet. I just gave them $40,000! :realmad:

Have you tried the student job board? There is typically always labs looking for help (dishwashers/mailgetters) in Vet Med.

can man? seems to be pretty popular these days. not sure about 401k or insurance though if that's what you're looking for

If you are a student I can possibly hire you to work at Veenker. BUT you have to be a student. Let me know.

old men are too needy. CyCrazy needs a strapping young lad who's willing to forgo cuddling without whining and complaining about it

yes i've been checking it daily for the last week and a half or so. Gotten a few interviews but nothing past that. I guess i'll just blame it on the economy.

I have heard nothing but awful things about this job (my roommate and a couple friends used to work there), only apply there if everything else fails. However, the nice thing is if you only want work until the end of the summer, then you've already made it longer than their average employee. :biglaugh:

Information Technology Services located in the Communications Building. When I was a student I spent my summers checking the projectors and AV equipment all around campus and video taping some summer classes. Easiest job in the world. It took me a month to check those classrooms and then they had me do it again a month later. Pack a backpack full of DVDs (to test the DVD players and projectors ), bring your computer and collect a paycheck. They usually only take on 2-4 students.

just applied, looks like they're only hiring delivery right now. I've heard about that job and it sounds like a piece of cake (no offense of course)

Unless you like to BS with people who don't want to talk to you and don't mind begging them for money, the Foundation sucks. I gave it a shot when I was a sophomore. Absolutely terrible experience. They stuck me on a terrible call list (where nobody has ever donated before), so you are talking with recent graduates or people who do not have an interest in donating. Most of them know the "scheme" or have heard of it before. People can be rude. I could always tell that a conversation was going nowhere and would just pray that they would hang up, so I didn't have to go through the donation levels and feel like an *******. After about 3 week after training, I had only raised $50 and gave them my resignation. One of the best days of my life, LOL.

The next spring I applied for CyRide. Great job, better pay than most campus jobs. Pretty flexible with scheduling work around classes. If you don't mind driving and/or have had experience driving large vehicles/farm equipment, I would strongly recommend giving them a shot. It's not for everyone, but I liked it. Sometimes you have to deal with local yocals, but most of the time it's college kids who are easy customers. Friendly coworkers. Great training program.

Good luck.

I worked there for about 6 months. It got to the point where it was actually quite easy. There was a lot of down time where you could chat with co-workers or play sudoku. The main thing is that you MUST have a good attitude about it. You are calling people who do not care to talk to you. You have to be able to engage other people and communicate with them. If you go through the ****** and be consistent then you will be successful. It just takes time.

During the school year, go be an intramural ref. Randy Heimerman is quite possibly the coolest guy on campus and is easy to work for. Plus you can work every night if you want. He's also looking for a few people during the summer so check it out if you can. It's easy money and in the afternoons so if you work at Veenker, you can still do that. I worked at Veenker one summer... it was alright. Most the guys there are "turf" guys and take it FAR too seriously... But it was still a good summer job for hanging around campus and being able to go to Paddy's every Tuesday night...
