Why is it assumed that Fred doesn't know any X and O's. They guy played more basketball than most people can even dream about. I am sure he picked up something over the 4 years of high school, 4 years of college, and 9 years in the NBA, it isn't like he is an idiot.

the fact that you question HCTMFH's abilty just makes me love the hire all the more.

One could argue that Hoiberg is a little more familiar with the game of basketball than Alf is...
While this doesn't translate to coaching ability, it should atleast translate with an idea of what the **** is going on
There's funny, and just plain cruel. You have crossed that line, and crossed it HARD.
Though I very much like and trust Fred to do his very best to bring back the magic to Hilton, I feel it is going to be a job that he will need a few years to 'find his legs' in. I hope Fred lives up to everything that people have projected for him.
Now as for the guy who made this risky hire. Well, after his first few failures to hire a decent coach, he finally started listening to veteran ISU fans and alumni who steered him to good coaches. With the success of Paul Rhoads, JP now thinks that all it takes to hire a good coach at ISU is to hire an ISU Legacy player or coach. I'm still in favor of shipping JP off to rear-end kisser land, and hiring an A.D who knows what he's doing.
Good luck to Fred. If the coaching gig doesn't work, then maybe he can be the new A.D.

It's things like this that have moved me to "guardedly optimistic" about FH's hire. While it still appears to be a desperate hire, it also appears that FH, even though he has not had any coaching experience, has been planning this out for years, and it appears everything has been well thought-out and extremely calculated.
