your nfl team

Here a funny story...

2000 Insight Bowl ISU beats Pitt. One of the players that stands out in my head for Pitt is WR Antonio Bryant. Fast forward to the draft, Dallas drafts him and I buy his jersey Bryant #88. He ends up being a huge bust for the team and the jersey disappears to the depths of my closet. Fast forward to last night, Dallas drafts Dez Bryant. I instantly think man I hope he takes #88. This morning on the Cowboys website #88 Dez Bryant jersey for sale!

How awesome is that.

Well let's hope you can bring out that jersey for more than a year or two!

Niners-Boring draft really. They took a OT and OG. Both good pickups and maybe in the top 3 of their positions. I like the picks, it is just hard to get excited. I still think they need to get a running back and someone to compliment Patrick Willis.

Might have been a boring round for you, but the Jets did the same thing a few years ago - and they now have the best O-line in the league - and the Niners drafted some beasts.

As for me...

Falcons fan. If Weatherspoon does to NFL opponents as he did to ISU, I'm going to be a very happy guy.

Also follow the Ravens, and they helped create the Tebow fiasco.

Vikings - I'm on the fence. All the projected players to Minnesota were taken earlier so I'll be surprised with the two they draft today. They have great scouts and I'm hoping for a repeat of last years draft where all of their picks got to see the field. Toby Gerhart to Minnesota - the second coming of Leroy Hoard?

Childress was so distraut that he didn't get Tebag that he couldn't bring himself to pick another player. Brad and his draft team will have to drink it off tonight and come back tomorrow. Watch out for the draft moves they will make with a hangover. Not pretty.:jimlad:

Dont get me wrong, they did the right things. As a fan, though, you are looking for that playmaker. I think they would have taken Spiller had he been there.

Packers fan- Love the Bulaga pick, definetely needed help on the o-line. Would like to get at least one more o-lineman like ciron black or kyle calloway. Doubt we get either.

Love the pick though. great value

Hopefully you can still fit in the jersey you bought 10 yrs. ago.

Love that you love your pick, and it was a very good one for the Pack. Aaron Rodgers is going to be the next star QB of the NFL, if they can keep him healthy long enough. Bulaga is a step in that direction.

While it's fun to hate all things Hawkeye, I think it's important to make a distinction once you make it to the NFL. What cokkege you played for us simply no longer relevant and thode that hate NFL players based on that are absolutely petty.

Leroy Hoard on his running style: "If you need a yard, I'll get you three. If you need five yards, I'll get you three."

Hoard was the epitome of "3 yards and a cloud of dust."

Steelers fan -
I am completely underwhelmed and disapointed. The Steelers have a lot of need and usually the first round is where you get your playmakers. The Steelers needed DBs, WR, DT, ILB, and probably would have been smart to take a QB. OL was deffinitely a need, but at #18 you need to get a lot of bang for your buck. An OT would have been more worth the money they will pay at #18. They could have taken the second best center in the draft in the second round and used their top pick for a "name" player.

Pouncey better be, hands down, the best center in the draft and make the probowl in a few years or I will be ticked.
Last year they took a 3-4 DE in the firs tround who barely played. I hope they know what their doing. They seem to prefer playing it safe to making any kind of splash.

I'm not as upset as you about this. After hearing that Claussen fell so far, I'm a bit
disappointed. Of course Pitt is already carrying 4 QBs - not sure what flexibility they have to ditch any of them. Seems clear that Ben is going to be back (in Oct)

Sounds like this kid can play all three interior spots and is expected to start out at guard. After last fall, probably a good thing.

I see the need for another DT, not so sure about LB (don't know how good, but there's a stockpile there and LeBeau is the master). Maybe another quality DB (not an Ike Taylor fan).

But I can't argue about a good OL. Glaring weakness for years now. Who knows - maybe we'll actually be able to RUN the ball again. (Should've got Shonn Greene from the Jets for Holmes - I know he's a hawk, but I think he'd fit so well into Pittsburgh)

If I was a Steelers fan, I would be happy with the kid. I was hoping he would fall to the bottom of the first round. I think the Cowboys were really looking at him hard. You can't have too many quality OL, especially versatile OL. If nothing else, they can be trade currency.

I will say that the Rams front office should send Minnesota a thank you card. I would put money on someone (Browns? Bills?) giving up too much and going up to this pick to take Clausen ahead of the Vikings.

That said, Minny's in a good spot. If they want a QB they can get McCoy or (maybe) Clausen. If they want to go OL Campbell's there. Taylor Mays is available at safety, or they could get Cody to train in as the heir-apparent to the Williams Wall. There's still some good linebackers available.

I just found out that the Steelers re-acquired Byron Leftwich, so I feel better about the QB situation until Ben gets back. I hope he learns his lesson.
I agree, Pouncey should help the running game so that will be good. I guess I was just hoping for a more sexy pick.
I'm very curious where they will go in the second. They have 4 5th round picks so hopefully they can move up in rounds 2-4 and get someone they really want. I don't think and Nose Tackles will be available at #20 in round 2. I am thinking CB or S.

I wanted the Steelers to draft Shonn Green last year at the end of the second round but they traded out of the pick and the Jets took him at the beginning of the third. The Steelers got robbed on the Holmes trade. I wish they could have at least got a 3rd round pick for a Super Bowl MVP they moved up in the first round to get a few years ago. Bah!

The Vikes are in a really good spot. They can get either QB or take Mays who has top ten measurables. St Loius is in a good position to move down a few spots and move up in later rounds to get good value.

Dolphins - Traded to a later 1st round pick (28th from 12th), picked up a 2nd and 4th round pick, got a good D-lineman, and Tim Dobbins. I think they came out smelling like a rose.

Thought the same when we picked Dermotti Dawson and that turned out pretty well. With the Steelers, you just have to trust their personnel department. They have been correct more time than incorrect. We had a couple young DBs last year that were hurt, & Wallace produced earlier & better than anticipated, so I think OL was the way to go. Someone had to be blocking well for Tebow - maybe it was his line that made him look so good.

Redskins. Grew up watching the NFL but never really had a team. Was in DC for a while a little over a year ago and went to a game and became a fan. Not a bad pick, they need someone to talk over for Chris Samuels...looking for some more weapons on the outside for McNabb in the next few rounds as well as a linebacker.

Just hope Tebow pans out, we have liked to seen us take Dez instead of Thomas...oh well not bad so far

Yeah both of Denvers picks will be disected in the future.
If Dez ends up havign a better career than Thomas they will get ripped for it.
Tebow is a high risk pick, but I think he will do everything in his power to get it done. If he fails, it wont be for lack of effort. My wife is a big Broncos fan and she jumped up and down when they picked Tebow. He will give you 100% every day and that is a lot more than some of the other first round talents will do. He also probably wont have any rape allegations thrown at him (Stupid Roethlisberger!) which is a big plus.
