I know, but hey at least during those days, you thought you had a chance to win games! And we barely beat a very overrated Minnesota team to get there...

When you are as hopelessly bad as Iowa was this year, a different direction is a good direction. It was a failed model, with little to no returning talent ot get better with. A change in philosophy, and a chance in personnel can't hurt at that point, and as such, yes I think they are in going in the right direction.
In my opinion, I would rather by taking a chance than lying stagnant like I feel we are.
True, but Wayne was never a great x's and o's coach. If the new guy @ Iowa is good with X's and O's, Wayne can definitely bring in the talent and the Hawks could be on the rise real fast.In the 3 previous matchups of Wayne's "athletes" vs. Greg's "clodhoppers", here's how Wayne fared:
1) won by 3
2) lost by 17
3) won by 7
Yeah, those are some real poundings Wayne dished out.![]()
Well, if these "athletes" are anything like Mike Evanovich, Ross Marsden, or Aaron Agnew, or hell, even Shawn Taggert, I think we'll be OK. And yes, I am saying Shawn Taggert was not a great athlete.
Are you happy 85?
Inferiorating.

I could have started a thread about butterflies and the end result would have been the same
No. He wasn't great. The fact that I am seeing "excellent" recruiter and WM in the same sentence really, really baffles me. He brought in some solid guys, like all coaches do, but certainly wasn't a 5 star recruiter.
His first team, which won 20 games (which, IMO, was disappointing considering the makeup of that team) played 4 significant players that Wayne didn't recruit; Homan, Vroman, Sullivan, and Jefferson. (And people can talk about Will and Curt all they want; fact is, Larry does deserve some of that credit. It's part of being the head coach, sealing the deal. He drove out to the east coast to watch Curtis play. Curtis was quoted saying this meant a lot to him.)
His second team was fun to watch when, and only when, they kicked it in the a$$ and went on a hot streak.
His 3rd team blew. I care more about what's in my turds than that team cared about Iowa State basketball.
And no, Taggart was NEVER great, and certainly never lived up to the hype. He put up solid numbers for a LOADED Memphis team. He didn't have to hustle or play defense. Great guards got him the ball in easy places.
So all that little returning talent is now going to perform better with a new system? Probably not, but perhaps in the future. When you are as hopelessly bad as Iowa was this year, a different direction is a good direction. It would have been much more efficient, with less baseless and inconsistent (if not illogical) statements by just starting off with this...rather than making poor attempts to relate every random college basketball situation to being better than ISU's.In my opinion, I would rather by taking a chance than lying stagnant like I feel we are.

What record?
You would actually base the decision of three games over three years? Of course not. But hey, any attempt to bash ISU athletics, even if illogical, is worth it.

I bet the records after Fran's first two years is similar to Lick's. Well his model deemed a failure as well?

We beat a solid Minnesota team by 12 I think. Oh my god, the Wayne haters have been relegated to bashing an NCAA Tourney win!
After the past 4 years, it is surreal (and ridiculous) reading a Cyclone fan complain about a team that went to the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament. Seriously, WTF?
I'll answer it for you: Jamie made a huge mistake firing Wayne, and his entire staff / uprooting the families, basically without cause.
If Jamie thought there were any deficiencies on Wayne's part, he should have done the right thing any normal/ good boss would have done - outline the problem areas and give the man a chance to work it out in a reasonable time frame.
Everybody complains about BVD not giving LE a second chance, Jamie screwed the pooch by pulling the trigger way too soon on WM, then went into contract negotiations with GM from a poor platform that resulted in the current state of the program.
It's amazing what some people will nitpick and argue about on here.
