"Cyclone Power" is a standard Ames High "Little Cyclones" cheer. It wasn't an ISU cheer. It was followed by an AHS cheer!
It's simple. Drop ISU and a few schools off the list and invite the public. Or invite just the high school and friends. I'm sure ESPN had a hand in wanting a crowd there. But he didn't need to use ISU fans.

The rest of "us" is his hometown. He didn't invite ISU fans, he invited the entire community.
He didn't "use" ISU fans. 90% of the crowd was from Ames High. And they were the ones who showed the most class in cheering the good fortune of their friend even if he picked something other than the hometown school.
So you were there then? You heard the cheers for just the ISU sign? I was sitting in front of a group of ISU students and they talked before hand about getting Cyclone Power going. The sea of red wasn't doing an AHS cheer.
So he can't invite the community that shows up in droves to Ames High games because they also are ISU fans? When your hometown is 50% ISU students with no ties to the city of Ames proper, and in total probably 90% ISU fans, it's a different story. If he lived in Des Moines or Sioux City or Marshalltown or Council Bluffs it's fine to invite the community because Iowa State University is not located there. Inviting the community, which he knew would be primarily Cyclone fans, was kind of a bad move. Otherwise, I don't really have that much of a problem with him going to UNC. I think we all knew he wasn't coming to ISU, but it still stings. Stop telling people it's not ok to be ****** off for a few hours. In a month if these threads are still popping up, then I'll be behind you. Otherwise, just give it a rest.

One thing for me that is an eye opener is, because I've never followed recruiting too much, all of the hours a coach dedicates to recruiting with the possiblity (and actually more often than not the probablility) that nothing will come out of it. I'd hate to spend that much time on a project knowing that in the end there was only a 20% chance of having anything to show for it. I think that would really get old for the coaches (all coaches, not just ISU coaches).
Yes, I was there. Yes, there was a cheer when they put up the ISU sign. Yes, the ISU minority was doing an ISU cheer at the same time, but 90% of the crowd was doing an AHS cheer. What did the ISU folks do right after the Cyclone Power cheer when they did the "A-H-S" cheer?
Further, the guys with no shirts wrote H-A-R-R-I-S-O-N on their chests, not I-S-U.
why should I be happy for him or support him? I could give a crap about the kid now that he isn't going to ISU. people being compassionate for cyclone athletics and our basketball program do not owe harrison barnes anything and are fully entitled to their opinions regarding him and how they interpret his handling of the recruiting process.
