MLB: Cubs sign first rd pick

And the point is...not saying this isn't news but you won't remember this guy 5 years from now when he makes it to the majors.

Did this really require an all new thread?

What part of the title did you not understand? you clicked on it, then you needed to say how this thread isn't needed. IMO, your post is what wasn't needed.

8th round: Robert Whitenack (RHP, SUNY-Old Westbury, N.Y.)
9th round: Richard Jones (C, The Citadel)
10th round: Charles Thomas (3B, Edward Waters College, Fla.)
11th round: John Mincone (LHP, Suffolk CC, N.Y.)
12th round: Burundi Davis (OF, Howard College, Texas)
14th round: Danny Keefe (RHP, University of Tampa)
15th round: Bryan Shields (OF, Auburn-Montgomery)
18th round: Matt Williams (C, Duke)
21st round: Greg Rohan (1B, Kent State)
22nd round: Derrick Fitzgerald (2B, Dyersburg State CC, Tenn.)
25th round: Justin Bour (1B, George Mason)
26th round: Steven Grife (RHP, Mercyhurst College, Pa.)
27th round: Corey Martin (RHP, Western Carolina)
28th round: Jordan Petraitis (3B, Miami-Ohio)
29th round: Tim Glubb (RHP, Missouri State)
38th round: Robert Wagner (3B, Panola Junior College, Texas)

Quick note: Today in Baseball Prospectus, Kevin Goldstein wrote ($) "Midwest League scouts are wondering how [Brett] Jackson dropped to the 31st overall pick. . . Jackson's power/speed combination is moving him up prospect lists while others wait to get their pro career even started."

I've heard he was more of a "tools" guy rather than a "production" guy. A certain former front office guy that blogs for ESPN didn't seem to care much for him because he strikes out a ton and his OBP isn't that great.

Let's see, the Cubs have an outfielder in their system who has excellent tools but also a lack of an understanding for the strike zone. Where have I heard that before...
