Just wanting to get some reviews. Wondering how the AT&T service was in Central Iowa. Were dropped calls or reception a problem? Were there times you couldn't get a 3G signal? What about battery life.

TIA

Excellent in Central Iowa. I haven't had a dropped call. I get reception in basements and everything. 3G is very reliable, but only in WDSM and DSM. I can't get it up in Ankeny. I had Verizon, and surprisingly had more issues even though they said they had better coverage.

I would wait until they announce the new iPhone this summer (next week at WWDC). It should be out in July. Just watch Gizmodo.com for updates and you'll get info. on the new iPhone.

Never any issues. Of course 3g is only available in between 80 and the south bypass. There is no 3g in ankeny, etc.

That being said, I am switching from an Iphone to a blackberry bold on monday :(

I was looking a the iphone but heard from quite a few people that had one about how frustrating the coverage can be.
I ended up signing up for sprint and will be getting the palm pre on Saturday. I'm hoping its not too buggy.

I'm very happy with my 1st gen. Coverage has improved over the last couple years.

As far as battery life, when I first got my iphone I had to charge it twice a day because I was playing with it nonstop. A lot of times the iphone gets a bad rap for battery life but that's only because you actually use it a lot more than you would a normal phone. Now I just charge it during the night while I sleep and it's good to go for the next day.

I love mine. I am anxious for the update to come where we can cut and paste and send picture txt messages.

Overall, reliability is good. Like others said 3G only in civilization. Battery life is dependent on how much you are on the internet. GPS has been spot on.

I'm sorry, but that still cracks me up. Only the apple homers can actually claim to be excited about getting features that were available 5 years ago on the basic flip phones that the carriers were giving away for free.

So without 3G do the apps become useless? Or just slower?

Just use wifi if you don't have 3g. It will automatically switch between wifi/edge/3g when you are or are not in range for wifi.

iPhone tops about any phone made out there right now. If I couldn't have an iPhone I would get the G2 Android.

Full Web Browser?
Decent MP3 Player?
Turn by Turn Mapping on the spot?
Millions of Games, Applications and Programs in one spot to purchase?

No sir, you did not have these 5 years ago on a basic flip phone. 5 years ago, if you got reception with your cellphone you were happy. But, of course you are referring to MMS because that is so much different than just emailing a picture.....

It's cheap.

All they want is your soul.

OK, I just priced out a 32gb and a service plan

$299 Ipod 2/yrs service
Data Plan $30
Nationwide 450 $40
Text-200 msgs-$5

So roughly $2,100 for 2 years before taxes, fees, etc.

Remember that Americans are struggling financially and are starting to save their money......
